I have been playing it all day and I am loving it, especially the simplified menu system, the pokemon following you, and how you can play the entire thing without ever touching the face bottons. I just wish I could understand japanese and not have to have a guide to play it. Who else is baffled by the fact that this isnt getting a US release until next summer? I mean how long does it take to translate it?

I'm definitely bummed about the wait but there are so many good games coming out early 2010 that I plan on buying, I would nearly have to sell my @$$ on the street just to afford it. So I'm kind of glad for the wait at the same time. Gives me time to make money between games.

Heh, I'm actually starting a Japanese course in March, for two reasons. I plan to visit Japan someday soon, and so I can start importing! xD

I'm in the same boat as you. They are all basically the same, but I still eat them up, put 100's of hours into each and love every minute of it. I really don't understand it...

So what exactly is with the Pokemon following you? Is it any pokemon, or just your starter?

It's whatever Pokemon you have at the front of your party.

It's very weird I know. I have been playing Pokemon games since I was about 8 when they became freakishly popular and I stopped liking them along the way, but the games are just too addictive to pass down. I have a PS3, about 18 games, waiting for my AC2 copy to arrive from eBay and I'm a GoW fan waiting anxiously for GoW3 BUT it seems I am still more excited about the new pokemon games to come out so that I would download them and play them through my emulator :S the pokemon games are just that damn good!!

PS: I wasn't even once tempted to play Pokemon Dungeon and that sort, just the traditional RPG kind of pokemon games.

You will be able to answer then. Is it an option to use the directional pad and the A,B,X,Y, buttons? Please tell me yes. I hated Phantom Hourglass and anygame that is entirely touch screen use.

My favorite group of hackers translated the entire battle system and item base in two days. I'm surprised it's takinga professionial team three seasons to translate it. =/

PS.: This is the guide I use for my HeartGold. :)

EDIT: Oh yeah, you use the arrows to move and you can play most of the game just using the buttons. But, getting to your inventory, party, and answering your phone needs a touch screen.

Psst. This game seems so fresh I can't believe it's a remake. It's so good it doesn't even feel like Pokemon anymore.

Awesome, even better! What makes it feel different, if you don't mind me asking?

@Yoweeh: I'm confused by your answer. The original poster said that he hardly had to touch the face buttons. I was just hoping that it wasn't entirely stylus driven. Basically, that the control scheme hasn't changed at all.

The game is incredible. I played to crap out of the original Gold and imported Heart Gold. It plays so great it feels like a whole new game, just filled with a lot of nostaglia. It has so many great little changes like a locked run button (don't need to hold a button to run), the Pokegear came back which I really liked because it brought back the phone, and the PokeWalker is a nice new addition. Another feature it has is once you get to Kanto, you can pick up a key item which changes the new audio to the original audio if you want even more nostalgia. I recommend every DS owner to pick it up once it's released.

If I had to guess I'd say that nintendo is saving it to fill in a gap in their calendar.

Oh geez. I see what I did. I sort of skimmed the post and misread it. I thought he was asking if the game uses the A, B, X, Y buttons to move. I'll edit that right away.

I'll definitely be getting both versions. I can't wait to play them because my original Gold and Silver games are dead. Batteries died awhile ago :(

I am going to wait this time. Gold was my favourite Pokemon game I have played, and I just never really got into the last generation of Pokemon on DS.
