Yes, Pokerus is a good thing.
It basically doubles the amount of EV points you gain. If you already know about EV training, then the next time you EV train, make sure that the Pokemon has Pokerus to speed up the process. If you don't know what EVs are, it would take me too long to explain but there's lots of info available online regarding it such as: http://www.serebii.net/games/evs.shtml
EV's are only really important if you're into competitive battling; nothing to worry yourself over for playing through the main game.
Just one note though, make sure you keep some Pokemon with Pokerus in your PC. If you leave Pokemon with Pokerus out in your party, they eventually get cured and can't catch it again. If you don't keep at least one in the PC, you'll eventually have no Pokemon with Pokerus. It's pretty rare to catch it so you don't want to lose it!
I've never gotten Pokerus in any pokemon game, after spending at least 80 hours in each one... :(

If I remember correctly from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald (last time I played was two years ago lol) then you can go west of Mauville and east of the town with a cave connected to it. Go on the route in between them with the day care basically. In here, there's a grass patch where fighting Pokemon in them gives the virus. I think it's the grass patch southwest of the man jogging back and forth and about 4 steps below a lady who just stands there. I don't think you're gonna go back to 3rd gen games just to get Pokerus, but it's an option anyways.[QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"]

My Staraptor got it around when I had to go into the safari in Pearl to get rock climb. Please Log In to post.
