Pokerus, how and where

Is there any way to know that the wild pokemon you're battling against has pokerus. Something like a status change that looks like poison but says PKRS?

This is a little disturbing for a pokemon-maniac like me to have played all pokemon games and never did my pokemon ever catch pokerus. Months total of my time of playing pokemon, I have never heard of this until 2 days ago. None of my pokemon have ever caught pokerus or had caught it, and knowing that is really ticking me OFF!!!...

*sigh* I am still peveded though.

my bro got it once. the tag on the status is "poison purple" but says PKRS. nothing shows during battles.

it works as a better macho brace (2x EV, but no speed change). and cures after a couple steps (10.000 i think). you can freeze the step count by putting the pokemon in the PC boxes.

thats all i know.

Actually, I think it lasts a day or two. I caught it once, forgot about it a few days, then came back and it was cured.

I know it's rarer than getting a shiny pokemon, you can spread it within 24 hours in you party and you can preserve it by putting a pokemon you'll never really use in the box. But what I don't know is if there is a faster or easier way to catch pokerus than to go EV training (killing a lot of a certain Pokemon for an increase in a certain stat)? Is there a certain lvl of pokemon more likely to have it? A certain area that is more likely to have it? Even a certain pokemon that is more likely to have it? Is there ANY way to get pokerus easier?

You also have to admit these are pretty good questions to have an answer to.

The Pokerus last for 7 "Real-time" days in-party. The PokeRus only spreads among in-party pokemon. You can preserve it by placing a pokemon in a "box." You will know if your pokemon no longer have the Pokerus, if there's a "smiley face" icon next/on your pokemon within their Status screen.

The Pokerus increases the EV rate on the infect pokemon by 2x.
IE: Pokerus + Macho Brave = 4x EV rate.

So if Zubat has a Speed EV of 1 (which it does), and your pokemon has the pokerus and is wearing a "Macho Brace," then your pokemon will gain FOUR EV speed points! Which in turn is equal to ONE speed stat.

Actually, the chance of getting Pokerus is less than that of a shiny pokemon. The chance is around 1 in 10,000 or something, mabye more. In all my years of Poke experience, I've never gotton or known of pokerus until a week ago. I owned and played through all the pokemon games and nothing. I think the chance to get it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less than a shiny pokemon.

Lulz, Once I was battling a ledian with garchomp (afflicted with PKRS). I didn't have one, so i used stone edge on ledian, *red HP*. i threw an ultra ball, and caught it. It went to my party. I looked at its stats, and it had the pokerus! :P

BTW, the Pokerus is CONTAGIOUS for a week. After the week, your pokemon will still get the effects.

i caught a bibarel that had it and it spread to all my party pokemon and i didnt know what it was,i found out though and infected loads of pokemon and put them in my PC so i have a large supply of pokerus

It's a rare virus that can be found in a wild pokemon. If you have a pokemon with pokerus in your party, other pokemon you have in there may also get it. A pokemon with pokerus loses its pokerus status after a few days, but if you want to prevent this, leave it in the pokemon box (or however it's called). The only advantage of it is that it levels up a bit faster.

BTW, if you put in a box on the PC, it won't infect others.
