The bricking is about the channel that everyone knows but can't be talked here. If you don't have anything illegal, your Wii is safe.

nope, they ahve seen report that no-illegal Wii got affected. Nintendo is even fixing those for free.
(this is based on post and Kotaku.com report. I do not have any prove of this being real or no)
Honestly i don't know why people are scared to update. Just do it.
i found out about the bricking wii's and i still went ahead and updated because it knew it was VERY RARE that i would happen to my wii.
Also if anything did happen, nintnedo would fix it for free.
my vote went to updated without a problem

Yes, it is true. You can check an administrator post at the Official Nintendo Tech Support Forums.I chose option F: "This update doesn't actually do anything for me, so I haven't bothered with it."Michael-SmithIt does allow you to go on the Wii Shop channel again. Also I personally think this whole things overblown. I think most people reporting problems without modifications are liars. If anyone got bricked without modifications, it's a really small number, probably about the same number that get bricked with any firmware update.
It didnt affect my wii when I updated (I didnt know that it can get bricked when I updated it).virus1000As far as I know it would only get bricked if you had illegal software or save data.
No problems here. Good too because I'm still waiting for my free NES game from buying the Internet Channel.nintendoboy16Yeah me too :? where is that free game :P
i'm not really sure. i updated, then got 2 new games. although my wii hasnt bricked, GH5 freezes with a frequency i havent seen in any of my other games, and sometimes it takes forever for prime 3 to load a room on the prime trilogy pack (more than it used to take on the original)BrunoBRSAs far as I know if there were a problem your wii would not work at all, so sounds like yours is fine

so i cant get THE channel, i was wanting to get it :(What is having your wii bricked?? +My wii is fineHawkEye1997A bricked wii is a dead wii :( it won't turn on it won't do anything, it acts just like a brick.
Well I suppose it depends on if it got bricked because of illegal reasons or not. Nintendo would be able to restore your Wiiware and VC games but not your save files. If you get bricked would you lose ur data?
