[QUOTE="Hyrule-master"] maybe you werent around but plenty of developers start off with licensed games and they have to make rushed low budget projects. Look at Rare or Retro in the begining and now look at what they have done. High Voltage ios showing the same signs as they did when they rose in the ranks. The onlyissue now is if all these good screens and info really mean something and if Nintendo fans will get off their asses and suport something other than Nintendo....for once.
We all screwed up when we did not support Zack and Wiki, or when we ignored No More Heroes, or MoH: H2 and so on. Lets make up for foolish mistakes and change the very way third parties look at Wii by giving widespread support to The Conduit.

For one, you make a valid point in regards to developers and the history of licensed games. I agree with your assessments of the Rare's and Retro's of the world in saying that most people (myself included) probably didn't even know who they were until they released that big game that most of the gaming world fell in love with. I didn't say that The Conduit didn't have a chance to follow suit, but to have such expectations about ANY unproven project in the manner that it will be this system-seller game is a bit much. I not angry at anyone that is excited, but I can't say I blame anyone that isn't at least a little skeptical at the moment.
On the other hand, your debate about Nintendo fans and their support (or lackthereof) for third party games is another matter and one I'm not on the same page with you about. With the way you're going about the situation, you make it sound like the sales of The Conduit will be the telling tale with how third party developers will view, regardless of how good the game will actually be, if it's actually released. Much like I said about No More Heroes prior to its release, developers are going to do what they feels like doing anyway, regardless of one game's success. And speaking of NMH, that game got a "love it or hate it" type of response for most of the people that bought it and wasn't exactly aimed at everyone to begin with. To a degree, the same can be said about the other games you've mentioned, as well. It's hard for me to be critical of anyone for not buying such a game these days, and I'm definitely not going to tell my fellow Wii owners to blindly invest in a game that they might not like simply to "encourage third-party developers to look at the Wii more seriously" or something of that nature, as I don't think that will solve it to begin with.
Also, let's not forget that not all of Nintendo's games are instant million-sellers, which I think people sometimes forget. I don't see any "Buy Endless Ocean or Battalion Wars II" threads around here, even though I don't recall either game selling like hotcakes and the latter of the two actually being called a good game by most sources I've seen. Heck, I should probably be at the GBA boards making a "Buy Drill Dozer" thread as I type this. The fact is that great games are overlooked on every system, despite who publishes or develops it. It's a shame, but it part of the problem with games being so expensive these days. I can't get angry at those who buy what they trust when they don't have the money to do much more than that. If these developers want to trust the Wii more, they have to find ways to create products the system consumers can trust, and that sometimes takes more than one effort.
I am not saying its a system seller but I keep hearing from people (somewhat from you as well) that this game probabaly wont be good based on some of the weird games they had made before it. What matters is what we see now and what we see now looks better than good it looks great, The question is how great. Which will come in time. Esp in these forums people have said right out that this game looks terrible which is not true. I am not angry at what people say here if I let something like an oversight on a game get to me I would be getting migranes at some of the ridiculous statements made here. Irritation or a nagging inclination for clarity fits the ticket a little better.
I am not just talking about NMH. WHich I agree was a love/hate deal. Zack and Wiki and MoH were not on ther other hand even if they had weird aspects about them they were still great games that were totally overlooked and we all know the major reason why. Nintendo fans commonly mistrust third parties and in turn third parties often ignore Nintendo fans. Thats why its very sad to see the majority of us screw it up by letting some of the higher quality games on the system slip by without even going gold. I know third parties have to step up but when they do we have to do out part. I never said blindly invest in anything, I said look at other games than Nintendo brands. And yes that will solve the problem. Developers and more importantly publishers invest more resources in games that have more guarentee. If more games start selling outside Nintendo then we WILL see more. Money is the universal language that even stubborn publishers cannot ignore.
Speaking of love/hate games like Endless Ocean and BWII they sold well for what they were. Endless ocean sold 600, 000 and BWII sold 160, 000 in the US and Japan alone. People, esp Nintendo fans, know what they are buying, they just refuse to. Publishers and Wii fans both have to do their parts so far when devs have done something good we did not do ours and that only hurts us in the long run.
