Poll. Next Zelda should go the direction of which past entry?

Be it on Wii or DS, there has been quite a bit of discussion on forums as to what kind of a Zelda game fans want to see next.

Because some threads boast 10+ pages, with opinions scrabbled in left and right, I wanted to put up a quick and easy to follow poll to see where everyone stood on this question --as I think it's an absolutely crucial one.

I'm putting 3D and 2D, console-based or handheld-based all in the same bag. I just want to know what kind of a game fans want to see next.

i agree that it shouldn't be the exact same worlds.

i was rather thinking what should be the spirit of the next Zelda in terms of how much it is a spin off or deviation from the main plot.

None of them. Zelda Wii can't follow a previous formula.

I am going to agree with ECG_24, you wouldn't want a Zelda game to be based with in the same scenery, you would want something unique about the new one. For example in Twilight Princess you could transform to a wolf.Carroll-06

On the other hand, it's not like it changed the gameplay that much. The wolf was barely used.

i totally understand that its been getting repetitive up till recently, but future Zelda? you want it to be Legend of Zelda: The Space Time Traveller?

How cool would a 3d Oracle of Ages-Seasons game be. And if they combined both of them like in this one Zelda commercial.

TP was fantastic, but that truly was as close to Ocarina of time fan service as any Zelda could get. The only real difference was that TP was significantly "darker" than Ocarina.

Now, Majora's Mask deserves far more credit than i think it gets and therefore, I (having to vote) would say Majora's Mask would be the game I would want the next Zelda to be.

MM- The focus was really off Link and more focused upon all the side stories. The side stories for the most part were touching, heart wrenching, dark and really brought you close to the NPC's.

Although the whole time thing was a little bit frustrating, the whole notion of the next Zelda being out of Hyrule and not focused on Linkvs. Ganon would be great.

Right now though although a lot of people are wondering about story, production values and/or graphics... I see myself more concerned with controls and the so called "change" in the Zelda formula.

I would definitely be more interested in a sidestory rather than staying in Hyrule. To be honest, I'm sick of the place. I'd be much happier if Link returned to Koholint Island, except this time in 3D with some damn good graphics. But the story would have to be changed up as well.... Perhaps Link's Awakening was a one-time shot after all. Of course, there's always Turmina, or hell, maybe an entirely new landscape. In any case, wherever Link may head to, it better be more lively than previous Hyrules. Frankly, Hyrule in OoT and TP seemed kinda dead outside towns. Let's get some real cities here! I don't wanna bust my butt to save 400 people - make it thousands instead. Go ahead and cut and paste Minas Tirith straight into the game, and then add several Kakariko Villages. Population is a must; Hyrule is a living, breathing place and must be represented as such.

And if Miyamoto can find the wherewithal to get 720p into this game =:D

Besides Nintendo has already decided what the next Zelda will be and they're probably very far along.

First off-cool poll

Second off-I would love another 3D side story game. I love the classic Zelda tale with the familiar characters and whatnot, but a new world would be so refreshing and cool to explore. Bring it on, Nintendo!

LoZ:MM is my favourite Zelda game. If they can pull something off like that again, I'll need to go buy some new pants.

I really like the way TP went on the OoT formula and i think now that the next Zelda game should be a balance of both MM and OoT. No Future Zelda!!

I want Cel-Shaded but with Something completely new because every Legend of Zelda title was completely different then anyother Zelda title before it except Twilight Princess and that was because of the reason listed at the bottom of my post. I want it to be Cel-Shaded but sort've dark cel-shading it can work just look at Killer 7, Stretch Panic and other Cel-Shaded games. Maybe it it was like that first Trailer of Twilight Princess with like how the Twilight World looked until they changed it for some reason I loved how that looked artistically, But I know some people here were complaigning because they saw Cel-Shading in the Twilight World.

Twilight Princess was fan service because people complaigned about Wind Waker and many people wanted it to be like OoT.

Link's Awakening is definitely underrated. I agree; the story is great in that game. Bring back the Wind Fish! Oh, and MM is great as well, but that's already been covered in this topic.

You know that i have gotten in to too many arguements on this site about the next zelda and like 90% of the time i vote for another TP looking game cuz i felt it was the best however.... I just picked up Wind waker again and the graphics on that game are alot better then i remember them being... also i am only like 4 dungeons in and i already think its better then TP? My vote for the next zelda goes for a Wind Waker type zelda just less ocean because that just kind of takes away from core gameplay with lengthy sails across the game.ZzZEVOLUTIONZzZ

Like I said before I would really like an MM sytle Zelda game because it is my number one game of all time. WW could also be good as I LOVED the exploration in WW. It was optional but I charted courses to sail to every Island and get the map for every Island and learn every Island's secrets. I would really love to see that exploration return even if its just on land.

If I had to choose, I'd go the Majora's Mask route... but it should go a more radical route. No Hyrule, little or no Ganon, voice acting for NPCs, no princess saving, no Triforce hunting, a weapons/item system overhaul, and perhaps having Zelda playable in certain situations throughout the story.
