New "core" IP would be great. Get Retro and Monolith working on something big for Wii.
Then again, I'm not sure how new IP from Nintendo will do. Takt of Magic is a first party Wii game few have heard of, the poor thing doesn't even have a Wiki page.
Both. The Wii and DS are where they are right now because both sides have been treated well. New IPs like Brain Age, Nintendogs, and Wii Sports have attracted new consumers in ways that many didn't think was possible, and names like Super Mario, Super Smash Bros., and Animal Crossing have also been crucial towards the growth of the system in both the hardware and software domain. Personally, I love it when I'm able to see a bit of variety between sure-fire must haves and exciting new content that looks promising. I also think it would help if Nintendo did a bit more to revive a few more franchises and give them another moment in the spotlight.
It's hard to say. Some games ,like Mario and Zelda, demand sequels because they usually get better and better. But a new IP would be nice, as long as it's a really good one.
That brings up a good point... I wonder what Retro Studios is up to... They said they were taking a break from the Metroid series. I wonder what it could be?New "core" IP would be great. Get Retro and Monolith working on something big for Wii.

I have been thinking about this today, and I think sequels are what will save the Wii. And I'm not talking about wimpy re-hashes of the games they have already released (ie: Mario Galaxy 2, Twilight Princess 2), I'm talking original sequels with good online play, a variety of gameplay modes and a nice story.
I think if Nintendo tries, they can pull off some pretty neat stuff, but if they don't start doing it now then this is about as good as the Wii will get.
Why not both? This way everyone would be happy, I think.
I would prefer sequels.
Agreed. However, with sequels I know there would be some who would want Nintendo and their developers to try some new things instead of sticking with the same old formula. Games like main series Marios and Zeldas are fine, but others like Pokemon could do with a bit of a revamp right about now. Please Log In to post.
