[QUOTE="menosdemon"]the last step actually. anything beyond that would be no more than a minimal change.yellonet
This 3D is not the last step at all. We only get the illusion of 3D and only from a specific point of view. There are many more areas where graphics can and will be developed.what im saying is that its losing its appeal quickly. for example, movies in 3D are lots more common now. i used to be all gaga for 3D when it was unique to a few movies. i think that it should have a function too. 3D had zero purpose in toy story 3. made it look nicer, but still completely pointless.menosdemon
Movies is one thing, there you have no control over what's going on so 3D is merely an experience enhancer.same with games. i dont think that games are going to be enhanced at all by adding the 3D aspect. the point of making the games in 3D is to earn money while 3D games are still unique.menosdemon
No, no, no. You are wrong and have apparently not understood why the ability to perceive depth is so important to gaming.
We've had 3D games for several years now, but all the while we've been playing them on 2D screens making it impossible to judge depth in a 3D world.Ever have problems jumping just right in a 3D platformer, ever have problems breaking right going into a turn in a racing game? This is due to the fact that you can't really see the difference in depth on a 2D screen.
With a 3D screen and a game that uses it you'll be able to see depth just like in reality and that will in turn make movement in a 3D game-world much more exact and natural.
Going from 2D screen to 3D screen is a much more important evolution than going from SD to HD resolution and it will have greater impact on gaming.
first issue-- i meant 3D in general. i mean that i doubt a major leap (graphics surrounding you) any time soon. but who knows? chinese people are monsters these days.
second issue-- so you really think it makes a difference if you interact with a character in a 3D interface? i dont think so. aren't we still kinda limited to where our eyes are? i think its gonna take a while for developers to create a 3D system without using a sensor.
third issue-- No, no, no. you are wrong and have apparently not understood human adaptation and perspective. because a character only moves how much you control them to move, there is ZERO difference between watching your character move in 3D and 2D. watching mario jump in 3D isn't going to make it easier for you to control. you're also unaware of adaptation. once you use a character, you become used to their actions because they are PRESET. pressing the A Button will always do the same action as it always has.
you might be right tho. i haven't tried 3D yet, so it might be easier to learn from. if you've tried it, go ahead and correct me tho. heehee.
