Personally, no friend codes.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
There's more than 1 thing they need to do. First of all, ditch friend codes. There's really no need for them.
Second, implement some sort of quality control. Nintendo needs to stop letting companies make so many minigame compilations for their consoles. They need to show that they are more commited to the hardcore audience than they have been so far this gen.
And most of all, they really need to create some new franchises.

Why would they tell the thrid partyies they can not support their system sounds like suicide to me. And nintendo has made more new ips than Sony and M$ this gen
I disagree. For Nintendo to tell 3rd parties what kind of games they can and can't make goes against the principle of the free market. Let developers make whatever games they wants. Buy the games you like, don't buy the games you don't like. Quality control is the job of the consumer.Second, implement some sort of quality control. I'm not sure if there are any major changes Nintendo needs to make with its next system, just refinements. I think it's a given at this point that HD will be the norm next gen, so I don't see that as a point of discussion. I think the Friend Codes can stay, but just improve the system to the point where you'll only need the system code for all games that use online, ala Mario Kart Wii. I'm not entriely sure by what you mean by 'local multiplayer', but if you're talking LAN play, it's a 'meh' response for me. These seem to be more hardware-related topics, which doesn't concern me too much, seeing as how Nintendo will be making some improvments to the hardware with the next system anyway. Whether or not it's where a lot of people wants it to be is another story, though, but that's not what this is asking. :P
The biggest 'change' that needs to be made for Nintendo's next system is something Nintendo can't change alone. Somehow, someway, there needs to be a consistent flow of major software releases for the system. Going six months without a game of any system-selling potential (like 2009 up until Wii Sports Resort) might not bode as well for Nintendo's next system, unless lightning manages to strike twice. Nintendo's going to have to be a bit more selective with how it releases its games next gen AND it's going to have to have some help when it comes to creating grade-A software that'll actually be appealing from third party publishers; 'tests' and mostly niche games aren't going to do the trick, but rather games the owners of the system can actually relate to and want to play. If Nintendo can nail this down next-gen, I don't think much else is going to matter as much. Plus, we have no idea what Nintendo has in store with its next system to begin with, so much like this gen, whatever is being worked on could be the ultimate factor in all of this.
The TC can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they meant splitscreen multiplayer. I think every game, meant for more than one player, needs it.[QUOTE="Madmangamer364"]I'm not entriely sure by what you mean by 'local multiplayer',

If it's that, then I agree. However, I think this is something the Wii already does leaps-and-bounds better than the other systems right now anyway. Its biggest games already focus heavily on the in-home multiplayer aspect and in creating an environment where even if others aren't playing the game, they're having fun looking at others play. I'm not sure how exactly you improve on that, unless you can create another idea that enhances the experience.

agreed. nintendo gives up online in exchange for great local multiplayer. the others do the opposite. If they are going to invent a new way to play, then they actually make the controls a lot more responsive and have most games use the new style ofplay. They need better online and to come out with more of their key franchises besides mario, metroid, and zelda. They need to make newgames as well. They have milked mario way too much on the Wii.
Accept the online world and community as a necessary part of gaming, and to quit acting so childish about itWaffle_Fish
right. nintendo needs to understand that. im surprised that after so many years in the trade, they can be so blind about some elements of gaming that just should be standard this gen. but hey this is the first time they used an online community for gamers instead of strictly local. give it time. i think the next console will shut those 360 and PS3 fanboys up once and for all.

to be honest i think even if they knew the next Nint. console just owns, hands down, they would pretend like it sucks they are too arogant and stupid to admit it. Nintendo won then, it wins now, and it will win again. the story of man. but they judge on graphics now so much that it is just amazing. i mean, i was just telling my friend who has a PS3 how the wii is awsome and stuff, and he used the same crappy arguments(graphics and MW2) wow... i came up with a lot better stuff, so everytime i tried to speak he just cut me off to repeat either "Modern Warfare 2, Awsome Graphics, or WII IS GAY i was getting pissed cuz he wouldnt let me talk cuz he knew he was losing, and then i brought up how the Wand is just stupid stupid stupid and will just ruin everything, he just repeated his little chants and made me mad/. but we both knew i won.

If you got mad, then he's the one who won. Just saying. And I've yet to actually hear about fanboys saying graphics > gameplay.graphics arnt that important really.
Well, you made this poll so that everyone could vote for their choice, if someone wants HD graphics you don't have to say that graphics aren't that important. They aren't that important but they make up visual presentation and etc. and I'm sorry but if the Wii had HD graphics you wouldn't say that graphics aren't that important.

its more of a "he wont even let me speak, he keeps cutting me off and using these weak excuses, its getting on my nerves, i want to tell him to shut up, but he will think im taking it way to seriously."
i just cant stand when someone keeps cutting me off when i try to speak, i try to be the civilized one while he blurts out stuff just to shut me up.
I want Nintendo to better build the software architecture of the console and have more space in the Wii. It's cheaper than hardware, and better architecture would also mean we would get more than 512MB for VC games and such. N64 games add up when it comes to space. I want them to at least have 10GB in the next console.
Yeah, I understand, but I would've just ignored him (or tried to)Arbiterisl33t69
nah, he would just keep going and plowing down on me with a bunch more crap after hethinks im defeated, and i dont want to spend my lunch period with that so i try to change the subject. he's not mean, he just don't get that sometimes he gets on my nerves when he doesnt shut up. i know im right and ur wrong, thats what i want to say/yell, but i know he would look, laugh, and act like im being way to defensive abouta game.i will be embarrassed then he will ask for my pizza and i will toss it on his tray because it doesnt actually resemble anything pizza-like:?

What kind of friend does that? :? Anyways, I think what you've said contradicts your previous point; regardless of what Nintendo does, there are going to be those who dismiss or even hate it. It's been this way since the 16-bit days, and I don't expect it to change because Nintendo releases a more powerful system, etc. The only thing you can do in this regard is just ignore the naysayers/haters and continue to enjoy what you like. If you know you're right about something, why bother continuing to argue about it?

you know this isnt true, right? there's a limit to this phrase. a game that's ugly as hell will make your opinion on it down. it can should lack of motivation by the devs. it can show mere incompetency. graphics don't really matter, as long as they're good enough. you can't afford, for example, a PS3 game to come with early PS1 graphics. i should blog about it... maybe it even goes to soapbox.[QUOTE="Noskillkill"]

kinda my nature, if im right i dont want them going around thinking they are on the top. like i even argued with my teacher for taking 15 points off of a bibliography i made. she first of all assumed that the books were not available in the media center(they were), i made her check and i got 5 points back. then she assumed that i wouldnt use the sources i listed, so she took 10 points off! and i argued with her everychance i got today. she just left without any resolution to the prob, using weak excuses and no logic. i wont stop until we both know im right. she graded unfairly. its just how i am.

that's the spirit! :P but since by now most people already own a HDTV (i bought mine after i got a PS3, so HD consoles probably have something to do with this), nintendo said the next console will support HD. back when the wii was released, houses with HDTVs were a minority, so it wasnt really necessary to raise the price with something only few would be able to enjoy. now that the technology's cheap and most people will enjoy it, they can give us the HD graphics some were dying to have. BTW, an example of game that graphics get in the way is guitar hero. not only it's obvious that the wii can handle the versions from the "big" consoles (they're not really great there either), but the game lags sometimes. and lag falls into the "bad graphics" category. activision's programmers need to learn how to not overload the wii's memory and still deliver decent graphics and a constant, decent frame rate, just like everybody else.[QUOTE="aransom"]

I agree that a fun game with OK graphics is better than a crappy game with great graphics, but let's not take this to extremes. A fun game with great graphics is always better than a fun game with OK graphics.I voted for destroy friend code, but mostly because I don't get into online friends. But the first 3 choices sounds good to me.
