I was about to buy FF VI for GBA but I started thinking. Square-Enix remade III and is currently remaking IV. Do you guys think they will remake VI? Has anyone heard anything of the sort?

Probably, nothing confirmed though.
Square's new business plan is to remake their old games, update the graphics, add little to no new features, and sell for full price. On the PSP or the DS. FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, DQ4, DQ5, and DQ6 are seeing this treatment, FFVI was remade on the PS1/GBA, it's very likely.

1. Don't know if you noticed, but SE is more busy with new games than they are with remakes/ports. So I doutb their business plan is to focus on remakes/ports. IV DS came into existance only because of III DS' succes. I believe an article stated this (that they would focus on remakes/ports) but if my memory serves me well I believe that was not true.
2. Don't know if you know, but the new features and content IV DS is getting is beyond amazing. Same goes for FFT on the PSP, but that was a port. Yes, FF I and II PSP were cheap. Not all their prots/remakes are, though. Not all remakes go without effort or attention. Should that be the case, why would they bother with the trouble of going 3D? Why not shiny new 2D graphics like I and II on PSP?
That being said, if IV DS sells well, we'll probably see a V DS (god I hope so!) and if that sells well I guess we'll see a VI DS (meh).
FF IV and FF VI are the best FF games(andRPGs) to date, only 4 RPGs have equaled those 2 FF games in storyline and character quality, and they were all for the SNES.
If they are truly remaking those 2FFs in 3D graphics or enhanced 2D graphics, i am definitely preordering them. No way in hell will i pass this up.
Because we are used to seeing FF VII and FF VIII in a cool, stylish and mature way, so if they were to remake it into a cute and small kinda style, i think it would be a big hit. But of course the storyline will somehow remain the same or just modify it a little.FantasyLeon
... That would cause a picket riot.
I would suggest you buy FFVI for the GBA, even if they remake it for the DS. Why? Because the original is perfect the way it is. A full 3D remake would definitly change the mood and setting for the game, thus not giving you the original feel of one of the greatest RPGs ever made. VI for the GBA may not be the original game, but it's damn close. Play FFVI on the GBA first, or even better FFIII on the SNES of you can, then decide for yourself if you wan't to play the FFVI remake (if there is even one)
Plus a FFVI remake would probably only be made in a couple of years (assuming they remake FFV first) and probably another half a year to translate the game from Japanese. So this gives you LOTS of time to play the original. ;)
Ummm...no need to translate a game that's already been released in america.... ^_^I would suggest you buy FFVI for the GBA, even if they remake it for the DS. Why? [QUOTE="Chezzanator"]Ummm...no need to translate a game that's already been released in america.... ^_^...Yes, there is. 9 out of 10 JRPGs up until the late 90's had poor translations... and no Final Fantasy game has ever made the cut, back then. The re-release of Final Fantasy Tactics on PSP had a stellar translation over the original's horrible English dialogue, and the FF4 remake's translation was equally sublime. No engrish garbage whatsoever. If you want the remakes to be done RIGHT, you have to re-translate them from the ground up, no exceptions.I would suggest you buy FFVI for the GBA, even if they remake it for the DS. Why? If they do i'll be the first one at my local Gamestopto buy it. Final Fantasy VI still is the greatest Final Fantasy.pigilikepoeI definitely agree with you that it's the best Final Fantasy. I don't, however, agree that you would be the first one to buy it -- I would. Unless you could get past me. I propose a samurai sword duel.
Ner. If you haven't played Final Fantasy VI, I say buy Final Fantasy Anthology for the PS1. THAT is the best option. Why would you try to hunt down the ultra-rare "Final Fantasy III" for the SNES EVEN IF you actually HAD a SNES when you can get it much cheaper and easier with that. Plus, I'm willing to bet that if you never played FFVI, you are more likely to have a PS1, or PS2, rather than a SNES.I would suggest you buy FFVI for the GBA, even if they remake it for the DS. Why? Another reason: if you enjoy the benefit of having a 30" HDTV (or bigger), a PS2 with an optical cable, and a surround sound system, you'll be even happier. The final battle in that game is one of the best you'll ever find in a JRPG, and it needs to be turned up LOUD. "Dancing Mad" rules.
VI is be best in the series imo but i would prefer to see it on the wii if they were going to remake it.MitazakiWHY the Wii if you wanted to see it on a TV screen??????? If that's what you want, take it to the Xbox 360 or PS3.
Now that I think about it, I'd much rather it get a console treatment if it's to be remade. It would give that damned Final Fantasy VII (that I'm starting to hate) a run for it's money when people see the better characters and story in next-gen graphics and sound. Man ... that final battle would be heart-stopping to see it on the Xbox 360/PS3. It would have been great if it was remade on the PS1, even!
Man, what the problem with all those white mages lurking on this board and casting revive on zombie topics?
FFVI DS would be awesome, by the way.
This one has been revived at least 3 times already. IT NEEDS TO DIE! Its an inmortal threat :DPlease Log In to post.
