I don't know if its fair to say its fake. Some of that information is not new. Nintendo has already stated publicly the their next console will be in High Definition which would lead one to believe that Blu Ray or some form of proprietary High Def storage medium would be present. Also given Nintendo's penetration into the casual market and their reluctance to upgrade its at least believable that Nintendo might do some trade in system to sweeten the deal for casuals to get them to jump on board. The 2010part is the only piece of info thats most certainly untrue.

You know that DVD's are HiDef right?
There's no need for anything larger then that
Plus they'd have to give money to company they're competing against for each Wii sold, you see that happening?
I highly doubt Nintendo will use DVD's again. Yes I do think Nintendo would pay royalities to the Blu Ray Disc Associate first before they would release games on a medium as easily pirated as the DVD. Blu Rays can't as easily be copied yet. But I also said Blu Ray or Propiertary High Def medium. I think it will the later. Probably that holographic high def storage medium Nintendo has a joint copyright on.
I don't now what to make of this. Could be fake, but it might not. The next Nintendo console is definitely an HD version of the Wii. I'm not quite sure that Nintendo would want to step into the blu-ray scene since that is Sony's territory. All I can say is, I would love an HD Wii with a 2010 launch window. Finally, all three next gen consoles will be paralleled.
The next Nintendo console is definitely an HD version of the Wii.

What was your first clue? Reggie and Iwata screaming that the next Nintendo console WILL NOT JUST BE AN HD VERSION OF THE WII?
When will people understand that specs doesn't make a console great? The games are what makes a console great, Last gen the PS2 was inferior in graphics capabilities compare to the GameCube but the PS2 was greater cause it had better games.
I honestly expect Nintendo to creat/use their own form of media that displays HD visuals, and trys to prevent piracy
I don't expect them to use BluRay due to the fact of what Jayson said.... they'd have to pay Sony royalties. Not gonna happen.
actually, the specs DO make a console great. unfortunately, its an ass-backwards system where the lower the specs, typically the better the sales and/or games. lets take a look at the winners of the generations: Wii (so far)(inferior technically to both the ps3 and the Xbox) PS2 (inferior) PS1 (inferior to an extent) SNES (inferior to the Genesis) NES (inferior to the Master System) my theory is, is that the lower the specs, the easier it is to design games for it, the more likely you are to have good games for it, which constitute better system and game sales. When will people understand that specs doesn't make a console great? Well the Blu-ray division of Sony is not the same as the Playstation. Just like Sony's Laptops comes with Vista even if they compete.
It all depends on how expensive a new format would be for Nintendo. They tried in both the N64 and Gamecube generation with their own formats but that didn't really help as people cracked them anyway (Alright the N64 cartridges wasn't cracked but the expense of them was one of the reasons third parties left the system). It's the main reason why the Wii uses DVDs instead of a new format. They simply didn't believe that a new format would be cost effective in the end as the N64 and GC disks wasn't.
It might actually be cheaper to go with Blu-ray for them.
I can easily see them going with Blu-ray in the next generation even though there have been rumours of them working on a holographic format.

The dreamcast belongs in its own tier anyways, it DID have web browsing capabilities and opened up the world to a more visible future of online gaming. its sort of like the wii of today, revolutionizing in every which way it can, only the wii succeeded...When will people understand that specs doesn't make a console great? SNES inferior to the Mega Drive? Definately not.

i was wondering the same, weren't both of them cartridge-based 16-bit consoles? they were on the same level, technically.Debatable, as always. The Genesis was superior in some areas, the SNES in others. For example, the main processing unit on the Genesis ran at about twice the speed of the SNES. The SNES, however, had a larger color palette, and could display twice the maximum colors onscreen as the Genesis.
And if I'm not mistaken, the FX Chip was actually in the StarFox cartridges and not in the actual SNES hardware, right?

not only starfox, but any games that used "fake 3D". but yea, i wouldn't consider it part of the hardware's power.Debatable, as always. The Genesis was superior in some areas, the SNES in others. The SNES was superior to the Genesis in every way except processor speed, Playstation was superior to Saturn and PS2 was superior to Dreamcast. So, you're theory is shaky at best.

Yeah. The SNES had faster access to RAM, though. Plus, a better sound chip.
The color thing, if I remember correctly was this: The Genesis had 512 colors to work with, and you could only display 64 at the same time on the screen. The SNES had 32k colors to work with, but you could only display 256 on the screen at the same time. Keep in mind, however, that, back then, regular PCs were working at 256 colors mode for most of us, so, the difference was not THAT noticeable.

Indeed.
I don't think there's a WiiHD coming and Wii 2 (a true successor) will be Q4 2011 at the very earliest. However if there's really going to be a WiiHD it'll be a mid-way console between Wii and Wii2, it's just going to be a Wii that can do Hi-Def by up-converting Wii games to 720p and it may have a small 8-16GB HDD. A WiiHD will still be significantly weaker than a 360 or PS3 because they won't significantly change the hardware or architecture.

I dont consider the saturn a contender in that gen. it was nowhere NEAR the place that the N64 and PS1 were, in just about every way, its like the 5 year old you let join the eating contest because "she'd be cute to watch", despite it being with a bunch of professional eatersI dont consider the saturn a contender in that gen. it was nowhere NEAR the place that the N64 and PS1 were, in just about every way, its like the 5 year old you let join the eating contest because "she'd be cute to watch", despite it being with a bunch of professional eatersgarrett_duffman

keep telling yourself and your 4 games that...Ahh whats with people and HD... My friend wants a resolution so great his eyes will pop out and his tv will burn cause it cant process that ammount of data. To be honest, I just dont see it... Movies are nice in HD but im happy with SD... even on a 42 incher. For games, i've seen a wii plugged into a 108" sharp and if you stood 6m away from it, it looked awsome. I really hope nintendo wont just upgrade the console to HD, i'f they really wanna upgrade, they should make it worth while and not just ugrade to HD.
no real news, it would only be logical to increase the specs and have a hd system, probably with a graphics card close (spec wise) to the 8800gt. bluray is a possibility, it's also not just sony who owns the bluray format there are many companies such as samsung and even microsoft who created a codec for it, who will all get royalties (like with dvd).
2010 though i highly doubt as a release date, they won't announce it at e3 or tgs and then release it 2-3 months later. if anything it may come out next year if they announce it at this e3.
oh and it won't be called wii2, or just be a hd wii.

have the complete specs for the Wii been released yet :? ?Tjeremiah1988
Not by Nintendo. People have been studying its hardware since 2006, though. Their conclusions seem to be pretty legit.
