The Wii U is failing badly, had one of the worst launches in history and is making record low numbers in sales this year.
No one should get a Wii U until after E3 and see what Nintendo has planned.
Most of their titles are due at the end of the year and so far they made a record with the Wii U of the longest period ever with absolutely no games available.
It's wise to wait if you can
I doubt it actually. I don't know about the rest of the world, but following the Xbox One announcement, the UK's WiiU sales are right now at there highest. Seems to me people might just have been waiting to see what Sony and Microsoft where going to offer before deciding to pick up WiiU.

No, they're not at their highest, their percentage is up.
Completely different things

Yes they did, much better in fact
They were completely out of stock, each time stock came in it was gone instantly. The demand for both of them was enormous at the start and both showed huge margins compared to the Wii U in the same amount of time.
So with E3 not that far away and the talk about the other two nex-gen systems being priced less the the launch versions of the 360, PS3. Could we be seeing a price drop for the Wii U systems if the other two systems come out under $350.00?TEX1251They won't be launching the systems anywhere near that cheap.
They won't be launching the systems anywhere near that cheap. The more information that comes out about them, the more likely this is to be true. Nintendo took a loss selling the console at 299 and 349, respectively, MS and Sony would be taking MASSIVE losses if they went that cheap.[QUOTE="TEX1251"]So with E3 not that far away and the talk about the other two nex-gen systems being priced less the the launch versions of the 360, PS3. You're a little bit off. It was the 60GB model PS3 that was sold out as fast as they came in. The 20GB models were everywhere, but people wanted the 'fully featured' one. 360 was sold out for a lot longer than the PS3 was because it was the first 7th gen system on the market, and the Wii was sold out for a lot longer than the other two.
I have to disagree with the 'worst launch' claim. Yes it has been off to a slow start, but the PS3 had very few games for two years after launch. Wii U isnt even a year old yet and there is a lot coming in the back-half of the year. Vita's launch was pretty terrible too, the system is already on life-support and Sony still has shown next to no effort to turn it around. At least with Nintendo we are getting 'Yes, we are working on things' updates. when was the last time Sony said anything about its flagging portable?

Sales wise, the Wii U is on a worse pace than any other console at this point in its life. It's behind even the failed Dreamcast. It's unfortunate, but true. There is hope for the future, IF Nintendo plays it's cards right. They did it with the 3DS, they have the potential to do it with the Wii U.I'm hoping they announce a price cut soon or before my 18th birthday. That way I have the money to buy it. Plus the games need a price cut too. $60.00 for a Wii U game? Are you serious? I mean, come on, I know that the 3DS got off to a rocky start, the Wii U needs to get back up to its feet. I'm telling you, Nintendo needs to cut down on the price a bit.
Eh, don't be surprise that there won't be price cut if MS/Sony price their system & games higher (since all are getting on that money train that games development will cost more for the this gen (Xbox One, & PS4)...if that happens Nintendo's price may look better. :PI'm hoping they announce a price cut soon or before my 18th birthday. No, that never happened in the real world
In the pretend world that happened, sure, I remember it vividly that President Unicorn said "The PS3 is not good enough for me!"
In the real world though that scenario you said never happened
Shouldn't the quality of a game dictate the price instead of the system it is on? Sixty dollars for a quality first party or 3rd party exclusive doesn't seem outrageous to me. Maybe if we saw those prices for a Lego game I'd agree but a SMB, ZombieU, etc.., seems acceptable. Quite honestly we've seen the prices of video games remain rather constant during the past twenty years or so.I'm hoping they announce a price cut soon or before my 18th birthday. I'm looking forward to Nintendo later this year. For $240 and some good games coming out this fall, I can't wait.
They won't be launching the systems anywhere near that cheap. Actually, if they were smart, they would. But I see where you're going with this, and here's what I think might happen: They're going to release the console(s) at an affordable-ish price range. But to get the best experience, you're going to probably shell out a couple of $100's as well. I can't say for sure what those features will be since I'm not following up on either Sony or Microsoft (since I'm exclusive only to Nintendo), buuuut, the best example I could come up with: The PS4 will come out around $350 - $400, but if you want to play PS3 games, you can buy a $100-$150 dongle that'll allow the PS4 backwards compatibility with PS3 games. Not saying that's true because it's not, (nor do I know if Sony confirmed absolutely ZERO backwards compatibility since, as said before, I haven't been following either company as far as their next console goes). To steer my post in a more on-topic way, I actually do not own the Wii U just yet and I'm avidly waiting for the price drop. Here's why, there's not many games out yet for the Wii U that I would be entertained with compared to my Wii console, of which I'm STILL buying games for (mostly just titles that I missed out on), and just like I did with the Wii, I'm really just waiting for Smash Bros. to be released before I buy both the Wii U and 3DS. So if the price drop happens before Smash Bros. is released, I'll get the Wii U. If the price stays the same but Smash Bros. is released, I'll buy the Wii U. Otherwise, I'm still playing on the Wii and DS.[QUOTE="TEX1251"]So with E3 not that far away and the talk about the other two nex-gen systems being priced less the the launch versions of the 360, PS3. I paid $349.99 for the Wii U Deluxe at launch and it was worth every penny.

Then you don't like games
Considering Nintendo has apologized twice now for setting a record with no game releases you must be in heaven. With each company that pulls support from the Wii U you must cheer like crazy.
