problem need help

ok im trieng to add one of my friends in my wii and his wii is giving off 12 numbers and mines gives of 16 and when i put his friend code it is asking for 4 more numbers is their something going on here

Where did you look for your friendcode? Not on the back of the Wii itself i hope (not asuming you're stupid).
