i have the mad catz component cables and when i try to switch the system over to 480p the screen gets all f***ed up, and shows the screen split in half vertically for a second then the screen turns blue. Then if i change the channel and go back to the wii's channel, it will show the split screen again and then again turn to a blank blue screen. and then if i change it back to 480i its fine again. i was wondering if it was my tv or the cable (i would have gotten nintendo brand but the cables were a gift). so yeah its gettin kinda frustrating so i was wondering if anyone knew any way to help. thanks

I've got no idea. Check the connection, check the TV. Ask someone else who might know? *BUMP*

you have an SDTV meaning the max resolution that your T.V. outputs is 480i and your tv cannot output progressive scan ( 480p ). Your cables are fine you either need to buy an edtv ( enhanced definition tv ) or HDTV ( High Definition tv )

I never buy 3rd party hardware, only the official Nintendo stuff because of past experiences.

I had some troubles originally too with the official ones. Try this, it may not work but it won't do any harm.

Turn on your Wii.

Now put the green component cable into the yellow standard video input.

The screen should be black and white. Go to settings on your Wii menu. Go to display then resolution (or something like that) and pick the bottom one.

Now, leaving the Wii on, unplug the green video component cable and plug it in the normal component slot with all the others.

Did you read the manual of your tv? 480P only works on certain tvs. If you chose to display in 480p on a tv that cannot handle it you will get a fubared screen.
