I bought a pre-owned DS and after playing on it for a bit it feels really loose. If you press it some ways it makes a popping sound as if it's getting caught on something and then sliding past.

I compared it to my brothers DS and it definatly feels different. My brothers is pretty tightly fitted and feels really smooth. Now I only bought it today and I've still got the receipt and box and stuff.

It's really annoying me and the diagonals really do suck. It's definatly different to my brothers. Should I take it back and get it exchanged and take my brothers down as well to show a comparison?

I bought it from GAME in the UK if that matters or anyone else has had an issue like this.

Is the D-Pad still functional? If it feels really loose as if it's going to come off, then I suggest returning it and getting a new one.

Yeah it's still functional but diaganols don't always work. I don't think it'll fall off though, might end up worn down though.

Maybe the rubber pads are not placed properly or they are worn out. This problem can be fixed through. You can send it to Nintendo or try to fix it yourself, but remember, opening your own DS will null the warranty if you still have it. And i don`t recommend trying it yourself unless you know what you`re doing.

I've opened consoles before and built my own PC (Including volt modding/water cooling/custom cooling) , so I'm fine with working with electronics but I don't want to null warrenties. Same reason why I refuse to open up my PSP to mod it. If I send it to ninty, any idea what sort of turn around/cost it will be inside/outside of warrenty?

Well I found this:

Hardware or peripherals may be opened for the purpose of inspection (but not used) and may be returned for refund or exchange within 28 days of the despatch date (7 days for TVs). Please note that hardware must contain every component part (cables, memory sticks etc.) before it can be accepted as a return.

BUT I removed the pre-owned sticker off the back of the DS, but could I get away with saying my girlfriend did it before she gave it to me, since she's the one who bought it for me. We'll soon see anyway tomorrow. I'm hoping they'll let me exchange it since the guys in game are normally good blokes. I've taken the pre-owned sticker off the box and whacked that on it anyway, since it's the same sticker so the may not notice.

well, if its looks the same, then they won`t notice. :P But i don`t think you can`t get away saying that your GF did it.
