Listen Guys (and Girls).I live in Greece, and I want to order a DSi from America (Toys R us).I have heard that a PAL Ps3,PS2,PSP, won't play an NTSC game. Will the same happen with DSi (I mean that it will be NTSC and the games will be PAL because I will order them from European websites)Nitroman25Nintendo has stated that "software that is only compatible with the DSi is region-locked". So any of your regular DS games will still be able to play. You'd also be able to surf the net with an out-of-region DSi. You won't however have access to other countries DSi-shops, nor will you be able to play DSi-specific games. Nobody seems to know(at least that I can find) if the 'enhanced' carts of the future fall into the region-locking. However, if there are ever DSi-specific carts then they will most likely be region-locked. Best not to take the chance with importing.
Existing DS games are region free and should play on any DSi. My Japanese import games play fine on my US DSi. DSiWare is region locked and apparently any upcoming DSi only cartridge games will likely be locked as well. I'm not sure anyone really knows for sure if non DSI exclusive game cartridges in the future will be locked.
As an aside, NTSC and PAL are video standards and don't apply to the DS.
PAL and NTSC are Standard Definition Television standards, they don't apply to handheld consoles, or HDTV. On DS, neither does region locking apply, you can play games from all over the world. I guess it's so to make it easier for world travelers to buy games, since DS is a traveler's item unlike home consoles.
He mentioned the DSi, NOT the DS. The DSi is region-locked for DSi-specific software, including the countries respective DSi-ware shops. This means any old DS games should work no matter what region they are from. When the new DSi-specific & DSi-enhanced games start to surface, they however might not(since they use DSi-specific features)PAL and NTSC are Standard Definition Television standards, they don't apply to handheld consoles, or HDTV. If you mean the web browser, that has to be DL'd from the shop, which he won't have access to.

"However, you'll still be able to surf the net and share pictures from anywhere in the world regardless of region." - The Escapist Magazine
"There are elements of the DSi that are region-free -- you'll be able to surf the 'net wherever you are in the world, exchange photos with friends in other regions, and still play non-local DS games on the DSi -- but it looks like we can forget about importing Japanese DSi software. It simply won't work." - Joystiq
"Nintendo DS software however is region free so you can play any DS software on DSi from any region. You can also browse the Internet on your DSi wherever you are in the world and exchange your photos with friends from around the world." - CrunchGear.com
