look at here, im voicing my opinion and that of wat my freinds have observed suggested. its not just me, a few other ppl also agree from other site, u may not ,so go ahead i shall listen to ur opinion...we can have a freindly/mature debate if necessary, i still respect other fps, some may be slightly better....but my main point here is why geist is being bashed soo much despite the fact that it does soo much good.
.soo mayb redsteel just has its precise control and thats it..but geist?
c'mon variety of multiplayer levels, weapons, bot amounts/ difficulty levels, great control...the option to swap analog stick function for left handed players like myself....thats rare!
now gameplay wise.....we think its innovative, b/c consider this typical scenario n how it is solved by geist:
typical example/scenario:
player 1 and player 2 engage in shootout. player one is severly wounded/dmaged, and player 2 dies. player 2 is respawned with full health and when he meets player 1, he has full health and will more likely kill player one. obviously if both players have at least some skill or luck, player 1 will do at least a bit of damage to player two..so when player one dies and respawns, he will have more health than player 2 and obviously will win next round. cycle continues until time runs out or someone reaches specific number of points.
in geist however,
player one and player 2 engage in shootout. player one is damaged severyly, player 2 dies. player one can eject out of his body and find new body with full health. and they r even. is this cheap? not really, player 2 can come in and get a free kill by killing the vulnerable host while player one is in new host. also, player one could be damaged and is out of ammo, so obviously..his faith is a defenseless death and p2 will score a point either way if player one jects or not...but if player one ejects, he can posses some1 behind player 2 and turn the tables...if player one is fast enough, he can deliver a head shot to player 2 before player 2 kills vulnerable player 1 host. or player one could eject and possess an explosive crate n' blow it up in player 2's face..thus btoh gain point.
typical game/scenario:
game starts, all players scramble to find the best weapons, and find/ collect a full inventory....and stack up on lots of ammo.... waste of time. eventually the two meet. soo many guns...eachone thinks of which one to use..but they die ...and then have to recollect all those items, ammo..and waste more time
geist: find / pick any host, jump in /possess...go shoot. u run out of ammo, eject find new host. u die, no biggy, one point to other player, and ur already with a new host, ready to get revenge...quick time..no time wasted collecting ammo.
typical game scenario: there's always one gun / weapon that dominates all others:
goldeneye / 007: golden gun, halo: sniper rifle, timesplitters: soviet w/ rapid fire grenades. etc.
geist: all weapons r equally balanced. machine gun is weak but fires soo fast ..that if u aim right ur target dies fast. shotgun, if u shoot normally, it does dmage...u use second function, u waste a whole clip in one shot or half ur rounds...but it deals massive damage, but if u miss, u lose precious time reloading. assault rifle sure it has grenades..but u fire a grenade...ur player automatically reloads - it takes time and ur definately getting shot b4 u finish reloading...unlike timesplitters when u can keep shooting up to 10 consecutiive grenades..
soo DOESN'T GEIST REVOLUTIONIZE SOME OF THOSE TEDIOUS/ANNOYING/CHEAP ASPECTS OF COMMON FPS GAMES?
-btw, sorry about some spelling/gramm..but u know ..these are just forums..n' when ur on a roll....u just write wat u think....checking spelling kinda stops ur thinking lol....anyways....about my points above....can some of u guys agree?
