I was just wondering how many DS owners bought a protective screen for their DS:I had one but itsrecently become so scratched that itmakes gameplay hard (i play Trauma Center and Hotel Dusk alot) but ive heard that even without it the screen is scratch resistant (I have the Lite). Is it worth getting them still or am i wasting my money?

i had one, but i used it so much that it got this weird yellow tinge to it, so then i took it off about a month ago, my ds is still scratch-free, but then again i like the take care of my things. like, abnormally good care.

I play rigourously with my ds and the only scratches on my screen are from my ex girl friend.... Just check that your stylus doesnt have any manufacturing defects on the tip *my first two did... stylus are expensive* and dont press down hard like a maniac just because you didnt beat my high school in one of the mini games in super mario 64 like my ex girl friend did... o.o

ruined as in unplayable like a ds kiosk? or ruined like zomg so many sand scratches i cant see well in sunlight? *either way theres no way your ds should be soooo scratched unless you share it often.*

Here is the bottom line:

The touch screen, contrary to posts in this thread and anywhere else, IS NOT scratch resistant. That is the most naive thing to say or believe. If something is soft, it can get scatched.

If the stylus has a defective tip where when you use it and can 'feel' that it has an uneven part on it, then it CAN scratch your touch screen.

Screen protectors will help keep most, if not all, scratches off of the screens. But you dont NEED one to enjoy the DS. However, being safe is never a bad thing, esp when something costs 129.99 bucks.

If you want to keep your stuff in awesome condition, get a screen proector. But get one that sticks by static, not one that is like tape that leaves residue.

Screen protector is a must buy for somebody who play games that requires the usage of the touch screen a lot...

As for me I don't have one yet, I only have 2 games that almost doesn't require the touch screen to be played....but after some time, I'll eventually buy this kind of game, thenI'll buy one....

I use a Hori screen protector. $8 shipped through amazon, it's a good value. Look around see what you like best. There's tons more brands and makes out there.

Get screen protectors, I learned my lesson with my first normal DS, the screen was so scratched up, had to buy a new DS. It is well worth it, especially now because of the popularity of the DS, China is pumping out cheap screen protectors with high quality, here is one for under $2: http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4086
