There's usually an option to delete a save file... If there isn't, the only thing I can think of is to choose "new game" if you can and then save over it. I've never heard of the game, but hopefully this will work.

Have you tried pressing all of the buttons at the same time? I don't remember the specific buttons but it had something to do with select, L, R, start, b, a. I don't remember.

Do it at the title screen

If it's a Japanese game, most likely you're just over looking one of the options on the screen since you probably don't speak Japanese...

How about starting a new game and overwriting the old file? that usually works on most games, not sure about Japanese ones though.
