I really want to play my DS and Wii online, but the thing is, is that at my local Best Buy, many of these have been returned, and I'm not sure if I should get one. My main concern is that I really want to play online with my Wii, but my DS would be nice too. I could risk $40 to play both my Wii, and DS online, or I could spend $25 on the LAN adapter and just play my Wii. So, the question is, is the $40 worth it?

I have the Nintendo usb connector and i can say that it is not practical.

Use a router instead. The Nintendo usb connector also IMO a low quality product, mine broke and i did not even know how. If i will spend for something that i would use always i would defenitely get something that is really good at doing it and not something that could fill my desire for now and break later.

the usb adapter is great. idk what ur talking about.

See heres the thing with the usb adapterand probably the reason why many people returned it. it overheats after extensive use of it.

Since it was made around the time the ds was around and not the wii. it was expected that playing ur ds online would not go over an hour since it is a handheld and many people would get tired of holding it. So after about an hour the adapter starts to overheat and could possible get damaged and it would no longer work. I have had mine for about a year now and i bought it used at gamestop. and it still works just fine.

go to gamestop buy a used one its like 20 bucks. take my word for it. just don't play for over an hour. take a break.

man i dont want one thats gonna get cooked, there must be another way other than a router or the usb thing, cos the way i see it the usb thingy is just basically a wireless adapter. it dosent seem like its worth the $40 ($80 where i live)

My whole family uses laptops except my mom so we have a router. I would suggest that's the way to go. However convincing your parents you need a wireless router when you don't have a laptop kind or hard. However if can manage to convince them go out the day after thanksgiving they always have really good deals on routers then.

really? mine ran out after 20 minutes of online play and after more than half a day still hasn't cooled down. on my DSi. I had only ever used it before on my wii and it never overheated then.

It's really bad. I have to fool around with it for like 5 minutes it to get it to work.

My router is WPA-locked so I can use my Wii and DSi on it, but can't play DS games on it.

You're better off buying a router. It's probably cheaper, and much better.
