I was thinking about buying zelda today after work.. I was wondering about the wolf part of the game...Can link transform into the wolf when ever you want or are there missions that you have to do as the wolf...

it depends, in the earlier part of the game, the game chooses when you transform, however near the half, you can transform and teleport at your will

there are no levels really its like an open ended world where you have to figure out what to do the wolf part is cool and early on you have no choice but midway through the game you can be the wolf on demand the wolf doesnt ruin the game at all his roles are cool and add to the game

Don't believe the GS review ! They highlight the flaws like they really matter. The wolf form doesn't grow in the beginning, but the choice to transform into a wolf towards the middle adds someneeded variety. The wolf is a lot faster then link and you need the form to solve puzzles in some of the temples.

For the first third of the game or so, it chooses when you have to be in wolf form, but later on you gain the ability to change whenever you feel like it.

In the first third of the game, you are wolf about a fourth of the time. After that you can choose yourself when you want to be wolf and when you want to be normal.

The wolf parts are the most boring, but if the game was ONLY wolf, it would still have been a good game.

Depends solely on your tastes. I was amazed with the game from the start. I think the world of Hyrule opens up after you beat the water temple, which I'd say is about 5-10 hours into the game (I can't clearly remember because I really haven't touched the game since December).

most people complain that it takes too long to "get into the game"...i thought it started off perfectly fine and at a great pace.

if anything, the last quater of the game is weaker....but im a very picky Zelda gamer.

for the first question (about the wolf)-
For about three temples or so, you can sort of become a wolf at will but you cant change back untill you rid the town or castle of the twighlight. After that however, you unlock an item that lets you change to wolf or human at will, which you will need t use oftenly... For the most part, the wolf is an interesting character that is fun to play as, but only has basic attacks and abilities such as biting and digging... (THANK GOD FOR MIDNA!) The new eperience as the wolf i would say is quite worth it, but i wold rather be Link since he has more weapons and what not...
And for the second question regardin when the game stars getting fun...
Well, at the beginning, you are just a simple little elf running around doing town chores... Herding cattle, rescuing babies from evil monkeys, ridding the world of a few more bees, teaching kids how to do bsic attacks (which they actually teach you)... However, after some goblins kidnap your irlfriend before Zelda, th game starts picking up on is action... The game starts devoloping rapidly with secrets, characters, weapons, temples, bosses, strategies, scenery and everything else... I know i could have put this in a shorter statement, but i cold have also put it into a much longer statement because the truth is that this am is extreely fun and i wanted to show you why...!
