First off, does anyone know how the 3DS checks walking for the pedometer thing> I took it with me driving around for work today and nothing happened, and then I just did laps aroundmy house and it worked. I assume then that it's not gps location tracking but the motion of walking? Or perhaps both together?

2nd, and unrelated has anybody heard if there will be specific days for updates? (i.e. monday for teh Wii.)

If you really need to rack up steps on your pedometer, just shake it up and down for a while.

Does that actually work? Just wondering cause a friend of mine bought a 3ds for her daughter but the poor child is wheelchair bound for life.

That's terrible! Hopefully the system can help brigghten her day a little. :)

I was tryng it out by shaking it up and down and side to side. It seemed to work for me.

My GF has been in a wheelchair her entire life and doesn't like people to feel sorry for her. But anyways, as long as you can simulate the moving motion like when you walk I dont see why it would't register. I got like 600 steps today just doing a few chores around my house.

Coins that can be used for things in games and Mii Plaza. You can only get 10 a day (1000 steps) and can hold 300 at a time.

Of course, as I rack up over 8000 steps on a day relatively light on walking for me, only ten coins haha
