Here is a mini-review / overview of the game, from my point of view (take it as a simple user review, if you will) :
Jump! Ultimate Stars is Weekly Shounen Jump's Answer to those avid gamers out there seeking a Super Smash Brothers experience on the Go! With its anime/manga appeal to all Otakus out there, along with its intricate and fully expanded card-deck battling system, J!US is the nail in the hole that filled the DS's lack of fighter games. When you play a game with over 300 characters scattered across more than 40 titles, a good 50 of them capable of being used as battle characters, you're in for a wild ride! The game presents you with tons of unlockables to achieve, tons of decks to build, and particularly, TONS of WiFi play hours to spill!
Pros
-Replay value could be potentially infinite due to the immense flexibility in building decks for WiFi.
-Customizing your very own deck is fun and rewarding.
-WiFi play on J!US is among the best available WiFi experiences on the DS to date.
-A rarity among fighting games for the DS console. A superior fighter genre on its own.
-Great translation guides available for japanese-illiterates.
-Game is foreign-friendly, meaning little text to read, all action to focus on.
-Ever thought of who would win against who in the world of Jump! Assuming you are an anime fan, who wouldn't want to see a full brawl between Monkey D. Luffy, Uzumaki Naruto, Kurosaki Ichigo, Goku and the like?
Cons
-Import-only title, so shipping prices could be high (but worthwhile nonetheless, since there is no other way around it).
-As a result, translation guides are a must-read for the japanese-illiterate gamers out there (not really a con on its own, since everyone who would compete online would end up taking the time reading faqs, forum threads and posts about the different "komas" (cards) in order to properly compete in WiFi tournaments anyway).
Hope this helps! It may be a handheld game, but that doesn't simplify its complexity and depth as a fighting game compared Super Smash Brothers Melee, for example.
