hello there.

I have some questions about the original NDS. i'm planning to buy one, but i don't know what features it might has. i was previously a owner of a NDS about 4 years ago, but there might be some new software updates, which might suprise me.

here i go:

with the Original NDS, does it now have access to the Nintendo shopping channel?

can i surf the web on it?

can i listen to music?

can i edit photos?

or is it just like the same?

The original DS "Phat" is exactly the same. You can surf the web if you have the DS web browser cart but you can't do photos, music and no Nintendo Shopping channel.

The DSi is the newest version of the DS. The DSi has access to its DSiware shop. You can download a web browser for free from the shop to surf the web. You can also take photos with the DSi's cameras and edit the pictures on the system. It also allows for music playback in ACC form(not mp3).

the DS you had 4 years ago is the same, and i'm pretty sure you cant buy them anymore. you can either get a DS lite (a slimmer version of the DS you used to have) or the DSi, which includes all the features from the other DS (except for GBA compatibility) and all the features you mentioned.

i'd get a DSi instead, specially if he wants everything he posted. better than getting one software for each thing (and still not being able to open the DSiWare shop)

everyone doesn't have £130 for a dsi. i was interested because the Game was selling preowned NDS for £40 (http://www.game.co.uk/Consoles/Dsi-and-DS-Lite/Nintendo-DS-Console/~r326162/). and whats so different about the NDS and the NDSL to make the NDS nearly obsulete. Just because it looks bad? seriously if people are forgetting a Console cos it looks bad, this world has gone to ruin.

can i surf the web on it? - If you buy this thing... Just forget about it. It's terrible.

can i listen to music? - No.

can i edit photos? - No... you can't even view photos...

or is it just like the same?

Basically, get a DSi.

What he said. If you can't afford a DSi it doesn't mean you should buy a DS Phat. It means you've got to save your money. ;P Get a job or do some yard work and you'll have enough money for one in about 2 weeks.

well, i still owe my parents £180. (pc upgrades) the only whey i could afford the original ds is to swap 2 games in for it. and i don't even want one (that's why i gave it away in the first place) my mom wants to play Brain academy on it. i already own a psp an iphone an ipod touch and a GBASP and original gameboy (i like the retro!), but i would still use it (the ds that is), i know i'm 15 but i do like Pokemon and i wouldn't mind 'aving a go at the brain game either.

the only choice i've got is the ONDS, unless i don't mind saving for another 18 months (which i do mind.(i still need to upgrade my pc case and get a EDTV cable for my NEW nintendo wii)

also guys, can i link my ONDS to my wii and do stuff? (what stuff?)

and you can play music on the ONDS. (i did some HARD research (20 seconds at most lol)) you can by this attachment called cycloDS. they call it a FLASHKART. i don't know why though but you can't buy them from anywhere? you stick a memorycard full of music into it and it will play tracks. and i can buy this other attachment, which is a DS card which a camera on the end.

Most of the people here knows about that but discussing about that is not allowed here. So please refrain from mentioning that here again.

I like my PHAT. It's quite sturdy and takes a lot of abuse. It's never let me down, no bad pixels, no cracks. (A few scratches on the screen but hardly noticeable.) I've had it since they first came out. It still has the original battery and I play it for hours at night. So if all you want is an occasional game, and you can get one really really cheap, then by all means buy it.

Probably in a year or two I'll consider a DSLite or a DSi. Don't really need all the "bells and whistles" to make me happy.
