Did you notice that the Wiimote and Nunchuk are perfectly symmetrical? This makes them the only console controllers in 20 years that's both for right and left handed people. Well, maybe the N64 controller tried that, but only a few games let you configure controls. The Wii, on the other hand, it's 100% left handed compatible.

Comments? I'm looking at you, left handed gamers.

Took game companies way to long to figure this out...

My left-handed gamer friends have already adapted to using the analog stick in the left hand.

The consenciuos is the same, lefties learn to use right-handed control schemes, although for em at least, i can only play light gun games left handed.

I'm a left handed and have never experienced any problems getting used to any controller. I play Wii the right-handed way.

As many left-handed people, you're probably ambidextrous, which is great, I wish I could use both hands equally.

Same goes for my brother, he's left-handed and can't write or do many things with his right hand, but has never had problems with any controllers. Now that this thread has been made, next time my brother is over, I have to check to see how he plays, never payed attention.

Yes, their shape is, but not their operation. Most controllers are symmetrical in shape, but they are designed for the right-handed. The only controller for lefties I remember is a Master System joystick (and the busted Atari 5200 controller).

We need more support for lefties. I wonder if Ned Flanders can help.

the first time i read this... i thought you were talking about the two controllers compared to each other...

they look nothing alike haha... but it is good to see nintendo making a move to allow all people left or right handed to experience the wii...

on a side note... my girlfriend's younger brother LOVES video games, but he has almost no use of his left arm... this makes for difficult use of standard controllers but games that use just the wiimote are perfect for him

No, they are not. The D-pad buttons are not circular, so they do not match the other side of the controller.

Isn't that the way most people play. I mean, I too am right-handed and hold the WiiMote with my right hand.

I am left handed and I play with the nunchuck in my left hand and the Wiimote in my right hand.

Weird or not, that's how I play

You pointed out a another really good thing: the Wii is possibly the only system that can be played by people who lost a hand/arm or with a limited use of one.

Yes, I think they did.
