Seriously, this course is terrible. Especially online. I hated it at first because I couldn't stay on the track, but now that I've gotten a lot better I don't fall off anymore.

Problem is, now that I'm not falling off anymore the track is more boring than ever. Every time the person who is best gets head very quickly, the average players spread out in the middle, and the noobs fall almost a whole lap behind. What problem does this make? It makes it so all the items are useless.

Shells - thanks to no walls and tons of massive jumps, shells never go more than a few feet

Mushrooms - Be it one, three, or gold mushrooms don't help. All they do is guarantee that you will zoom right off the edge.

Mega mushroom, super star, blue shell, bullet bill, bomb-omb, thunder cloud, lightning bolt - all do nothing as every one is so far spread out that it gives no advantage.

Blooper - what use is ink if every 10 feet there's a boost?

Banana, fake box - These are the only useful ones, but again everyone is so spread out that it rarely affects things.

And even though all the items are useless, everyone is so spread out and there are so many boosts (that everyone goes the same speed on) that even skill won't move you up positions. By the end of the first lap the course has been decided. This would be fine if it were like a 1 minute course, but RR takes freaking forever.

You just need to learn the course, it was made difficult on purpose. I've dodged many a blue shell going through the warp tunnel.

It's actually one of my favorite courses because it requires skill. This might be the one course where the best always wins, and the newbies always lose, which is how I like it. ;)

I'm usually complaining about the use of items....that's why I LOVE this course. I'm good enough that I'm usually at the head of the pack so the impact of items is minimized severely.

Your mad because the items aren't effective? Get better, and you'll be glad it's that way.

P.S. It's the best Rainbow Road yet. 64 sucked...GC was alright.

It is one of the best designed courses. Incredibly hard, skilled players are gonna beat noobs every time. You play mario circuit and my 6 year old son beats me because he will get a bullet and take first. Rainbow road, Maple tree way, grumble, moonview and some more of the harder ones, are tougher courses, inwhich noobs cant keep up, if you suck on these tracks, then just play more.

I like the challenege of the course if you are on a bike though you can get rammed off the track but as a track it is a testing track and I enjoy racing on it all the time.

It's great in design. And honestly, you can move up ranks. I was playing 150cc about a week ago on it with all the CPU's. I was pushed off by a bullet bill and was sent from first to last in the blink of an eye (it was right before the start/finish line). So I start going again and some stupid CPU got really lucky and hit me with a green shell. By the middle of the 2nd lap, I was half a lap behind. In the end, I won, IN FIRST, by .002 seconds, no joke.

Actually, I find that if you are playing with people who know where to put items such as banana peels and item boxes it's a very challenging course for items. My tip is to learn from whenever you hit an item. That goes for any course actually.

Also there are some really good spots for red shells. You just have to be a little patient and strategic.

Rainbow Road is the best course in every Mario Kart, always has been and always will be. It's also one of the nicest looking courses. It's always been my favorite and it's really not that difficult. If you can't use items properly then try conserving them until you catch up, or use a Heavy Character since they go the fastest. Did you also know that Rainbow Road is one of the only courses that offers protection from Blue Shells. When you go through the star that launches you if a Blue Shell is trailing you it won't affect you at all, you just have to hope you're near the star launcher or already inside it when a Blue Shell's coming.

It's true, you won't fall off as much as before. You play the course over time and get used to it. Well for me. But the reason why I like the stage is the backround music. The music is Good Egg Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy... only the beginning.

Rainbow Road is the best course there is. Some items are hurtful, such as the Giant Shroom (I always run off the edge) and the gold shroom, but I get over that.

I really get what you are saying, that is just how this course is. However if you drive close to the edge and cut those corners as much as possible, it is possible to pass people that stay in the middle and drive safe. I don't like the course, but I don't hate it either, there are worse courses.

I think the point he's trying to get across is that items are practically useless in that level and the's why it's designed bad, he still likes it, same with everyone else, he just likes the items, again the same as everyone else

This is my favorite level in the game. I love the colors and difficult driving. If other people can't keep up then that's good because they suck. If you're the one in first why worry about smoking the competition? Are you going to be like, "I feel bad that I'm lapping these pathetic drivers." Crush your enemies, drive them before you, and hear the lamentation of the women.gamecubepad
dude you got that from game informers monthly quiz thing last month and why would you repeat that...

ps mario kart wii is not that great of a game

I don't understand you people who like it because it shows needs the most skill. RR is NOT hard. It's too easy actually. I often end up in 1st or 2nd place. The problem is that it's so poorly designed that it's boring. The items are useless and everyone is so spread out, you might as well be driving alone.

By half way through the first lap, the race has been decided. No one will catch up with the front runners. It bothered me when I ket falling off, but after I practiced I became one of those front runners and discovered just how shallow this course really is. I'd take stuff like maple treeway over it any day.

I disagree. It's actually a well designed course, which requires practice to be good at, and few will master it anyway (A bit like Snowbound in Halo 3).

It is not Launch Stars that provide protection from spiny shells, also the giant DK cannons. There are ways to avoid a spiny shell.

As for Rainbow Road. It is one of my widely-played courses in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii, but it is the most difficult because of its layout. After all, it is the final course in the game. It is so much fun at times raming my opponents off the track in Rainbow Road, esp. in the DS version, because of the lack of guard rails.

I wonder what the next Rainbow Road be like in a future Mario Kart game? Using the physics of Super Mario Galaxy, such as driving upside down?

Actually I think thats a pretty good point. I have to agree, Rainbow Road is kinda annoying sumtimes. Especially when it gets me all dizzy from looking at it, then comes the speed boosts and the ramps. And ya all items are useless cept for blue shell in this map. Golden Mushroom makes things worse. However, the design is one of the best, and the lack of item usefullness might be good for a change. All skill.

Decent course.

It depends who your playing against on Rainbow Road or any other track. If your playing against pros online then it is highly competitive like Bowsers Castle or Koopa Cape and can end up being alot of fun. Also I have won most times there but you do get hit by alot of blue shells sometimes. It depends on what items you get.
