I know there has been a lot of discussion about Rare games appearing on the VC, and most people feel DK64 will make it, but no others. My question is this: why wouldn't Rare want to release the games on the VC? Now I know that they're a Microsoft second party now, but they still release games on the DS, and it's not like Perfect Dark or Jet Force Gemini can show up on Xbox Live, so why wouldn't they want to realease their games when it would obviously be a highly lucrative move?

Rare is now owned by Microsoft with all their IPs. Donkey Kong 64 will make it since DK is a Nintendo franchise.

Microsoft owns Rare.

Microsoft will not allow any part of themselves to support a competitors console.

Especially since that hardware is beating Microsoft's own.

The reason why they produce games for the DS is that MS is not on the handheld war, so they don't bother lending Rare's talent to Nintendo since it won't be a threat to them. On the other hand, if Rare games were released on the VC, the sales of the Nintendo Wii could supposedlyincrease a lot which wouldn't be good to MS.

I think they got spun off, like they'resupposedly going to do withBungee (Bungee, for god's sake). Case in point: Viva Pinata is coming to DS, or so I've heard (not entirely proof, I suppose, since Microsoft doesn't have a handheld system and therefore isn't competing against it).
