Didn't Microsoft also create an Age of Empires game for the DS?  Same reason: $$$.  Microsoft's got no handheld, so they make money off of Nintendo's.  Luckily, so does Nintendo!

Because Donkey Kong is an Nintendo trademark, Rare DOSEN'T own this. So when Donkey kong Country came about maybe Rare and Nintendo made a deal that they had to develop the game with Donkey Kon from then on.

By the way the DS version of AOE was not Developed or Published by MS just given the rights to do so

if DK is a Nintendo trademark, why don't they just make one without Rare? It's not like DK needs to be under Rare to be good.

Wha??? Really? That seems very un-nintendo...

We also remember Matt on IGN saying he played a Alpha or Beta version of HALO CE for the DS. Obviously, MS sees the DS as an option for tapping into the handheld market without actually having to compete with Nintendo's hardware. I'd like to see that Halo game... couldve been cool.

what does it matter if  Microsoft owns rare? I see it as Unity between Microsoft and Nintendo. Which I have been waiting for while. They both pay more attention to Gameplay and the "fun" of the games, where as Sony worries about their software.
