Having beaten Resident Evil 4 three times on normal mode I, for more of a challenge, proceeded to start pro mode. With the original weapons. That is, the first pistol, first shotgun, and bolt action rifle only. ITS HARD. But totally worth it :D

Now my question to you all is: Which gun should I upgrade most, and whats your favorite strategy to use? Taking into account the exclusive upgrades and how much it will take to get them, is there a certain weapon you would put most emphasis on?

Right now my strategy has been to upgrade my rifle first in order to get the exclusive 18+ damage upgrade (GC version) before I'm too late in the game (this will be my primary), upgrading only shotgun power and pistol reload speed(for CQB and crowd control). I'm curious as to what you would suggest or have done. Thanks!

Ugh, I hate the first rifle. Hmm, I guess you should upgrade which ever weapon you feel you are best with or need the most. I honestly just played through pro as I would in normal except I tried to conserve ammo more. I completely ignored the first rifle because it's terrible.

lol, I agree. I'm just playing through with it for more of a challenge and bragging rights. Does anyone else love that M1 Garand-ish clinking while reloading? I feel like the sniper from Saving Private Ryan

I don't particularly care for the first rifle you get in the game. My strategy has always been to leave the first wave of weapons as-is until you actually start getting better versions. I usually start upgrading the next handgun/shotgun/rifle.

God, just talking about this game makes me want to play it again. Such a fantastic experience from beginning to (almost)end!

There is no set way to do it, you use whatever weapon your most comfortable with, I actually used my handgun and a rifle mostly and switched to the shotgun only when in close range or facing fast moving enemies. But the bulk of the time I used my handgun and few well placed headshots will take down most anything.

As far as I know, and this is just my personal opinion, this is the best way to go through pro.

Keep the rifle that you get first. This gun maxed has the best firepower for a sniping weapon in the game. The maxed auto-rifle doesn't touch it for power, and with it maxed in every other category, reloading speed shouldn't be an issue.

Get rid of the first pistol and shotgun. They are garbage. The best pistol you can get and upgrade in the game is the Red 9 fully upgraded. 6.5 power. That tops the first shotguns power with every bullet. This gun rocks fully upgraded and stomps the other pistols into the ground. Plus it just looks amazing.

Get the Striker fully upgraded. It has 1 or 2 less power than the riot gun, but shoots faster and gets a 100 clip magazine fully upgraded. Pretty nice.

TMP maxed out. Just to have as a machine gun, its your only option (before you get the Chicago Typewriter of course...). A lot of damage fully upgraded plus a lot of bullets equals good crowd control.

Oh, and max the Broken Butterfly. 50 power. This is the 2nd most powerful gun in the game aside from the hand cannon, which is an unlockable like the Typewriter.

With these gun combinations and some skill, you shouldn't have any problems with pro. Something you should know now: you don't get the tactical vest in pro. The battle with Krauser is going to hurt, a lot.

Upgrade the shotgun mostly until you get new chapter 5 then upgrade the rifle more so you can easily kill the regenerators. Also if you have extra money upgrade the handgun and conserve ammo.

You know, shoot them in the face, kick them, knife them on the ground.

I just started in pro mode. So far it seems just as hard as normal but maybe thats just because I've gotten better.

It's an awesome game and the only time I played it was at night which made it better and more scary.

Don't upgrade the rifle thats for sure. If it ain't semi auto it ain't worth a damn. I actually beat this game on pro in a merchentless run. Now THATS hard. But anyway on my regular pro run I used the punisher for a pistol, the second shot gun, the semi auto rifle, the TMP (my personal favorite weapon for nigh any situation), the Killer 7 magnum.
