I am very angry that the Wii will not be receiving its fix of Resident Evil 5 and am completely confused. The Gamecube exclusive Resident Evil 4 was the foundation for the next installment and I personally think the Wii deserves a share of it. Why not? Is Capcom afraid to make more money? Or is it making up for leaving out the Xbox and PS2 when Re4 was originally released? Maybe that is it, and maybe we will get a version of RE5 after it is released for the other systems. Maybe we will have to wait like PS2 fans did. At least I wasn't an Xbox guy, because they didn't get Re4 at all. But still, how unfair is this and why do you think this is happening?

If you want to play certain games you have to be prepared to buy certain hardware

There's no way around it

Agreed, I'm sad to say game developers are to lazy to make a slightly less shiny wii version of most games. :(

Or maybe the 360/PS3 version can run on the same engine with almost the same exact everything?

You make it sound like Capcom is stabbing Nintendo in the back or something. Its not like every RE game was a Nintendo exlusive. The probably didnt want to insult fans by giving them a heavly water down game that wont come close to the other consoles. Its hard enough to get a game on the 360 and ps3 twp systems that have very simlar high graphic and programing stardards then to make another port for the Wii its alot. and theres nothing to really worry about anyway because there hasnt been a single RE game that was part of the main story to not hit a nintendo console. So it might not be now but eventually nintendo is going to have some version of this game.

Because that requires completely remaking the game. It's not laziness.

This is not an issue about laziness, this is not an issue about disrespect for the wii, and this is not an issue about wii demographic. The reason RE5 is not on the wii is about time.

RE5 is a huge epic project with massive development requirements. A game like that prolly started development back in 04 or 05. What did we know about the wii in 05? Nothing. And neither did capcom. How do you make a game for a console that does not exist? You don't.

06 and 07 come around and Nintendo releases this much weaker and very unusual machine for their next-gen console. No one, including capcom is convinced of it's success...especially when the obvious champion to be, the PS3, is right around the corner...which they have been developing RE5 for for quite some time by then.

The wii ends up doing very very well and the PS3 does not to many people's surprise. Problem is, RE5 is waaaaaay into development and downgrading a game would require you to pretty much remake the whole thing from scratch. So what do you do to save RE5 from flopping on a un-popular console? You multi-plat it to the 360, a much more popular console.

Then, you focus new exclusive projects on to the wii.

I don't know why, but I think you just made this thread to talk about something that obviously doesn't make sense. What do I mean by that? Lets look back in 2005... Resident Evil 4 came out on the Game Cube, later that year of course a PS2 version came out, it seemed to be easy to port it to the PS2 since the PS2's power was less than the Gamecube's, so no problems there.

Why is there no Wii version being done? Because Capcom would not want to start over to develope an exclusive version of RE5 for the Wii, now if the Wii had the same or close to the same power as the PS3 or 360 then we would of seen RE5 on the Wii without a doubt. In conclusion, comparing RE4 being ported to the PS2 is a whole different story compared to why RE5 is not being ported to the Wii in this useless thread, sorry but its the truth.

For the most part, horror games really benefit from terrific graphics. Seeing nearly photorealistic monsters coming at you with the intent to kill is truly frightening. RE5 wants to capitalize on that.

Then again, the Wii's control setup was astounding for RE4.

It's hard to say. They seem to be intent with ports and spinoffs for the Wii as far as Resident Evil goes, but, honestly, why do you care? Capcom made Zack and Wiki FOR US. They are making Spyborgs FOR US. Be happy with the exclusives.

I wouldn't hold my breath but Capcom loves making ports. I mean how many times has Street Fighter 2 or the original Resident evil been ported. I lose count. And there's more recent examples such as Okami. Basically if Capcom think they can make money from a Wii port, it will happen. If they don't, then save up and get a 360.

Also some companies don't like making crap ports, and when they make a game they want it to be as good as it can be. Some wouldn't want to make a version that isn't as good as other versions. I can't believe that so many people that only own a Wii want all these companies to release games like this and GTA 4 without so much of what made the games great in the first place.

It won't matter how many disks you put it on, the wii does not have the computing power to run the game at all.

I truly believe that the wii can showcase very powerful graphics, that are similar to the 360 and ps3, but the game needs to be built for wii, not a downgraded port of the 360/ps3 version. Just look at metroid prime 3 and super Mario galaxy. They looked amazing. If re5 comes to wii it can be just as good as the 360/ps3 versions, maybe better, but it needs to be built from the ground up for wii. They need to treat the game as a wii exclusive. They can't rush a port with terrible graphics, unresponsive controls, and framerate issues (like farcry vengeance just to name 1). If they put some effort into making it a true wii game using the wiis hardware to fullest potential the game can be amazing, and better than the 360/ps3 versions.

Agreed. Remember when Zelda: Twilight Princess was annouced. Everyone was baffled gamecube could handle that sort of graphics. And Wii is capable of noticable amount of graphics capability compared to gamecube so who knows it could look just as good.

With over a million copies of RE4 and UC sold since their release you would think that capcorm would be willing to make RE5 on the wii but who knows, they might announce it at E3. If they dont announce a wii verison of it at e3 then there is no chance of it being on the wii

that thing with capcom and nintendo was completely useless... all RE remakes, and resident evil 4 should be GC exclusive... otherwise the game director said he would cut his head off...

My bet is that they will make a separate version built from the ground up for the Wii. But then PS2 owners will want it too saying: 'The Wii as slightly more powerful than the PS2. Why don't you port it to the ps2 too?'

Looking at the other versions of Resident Evil 5, the graphics themselves speak volumes as to why it's unlikely to appear on the Wii. Personally, I'm not interested in a watered-down version of Resident Evil 5 for the Wii. My hope is that Capcom will produce another exclusive for the Wii (Cavia/Capcom produced Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and that to my knowledge was exclusive to the Wii). I don't think Capcom is snubbing Nintendo, since they already gave Nintendo two exclusives (albeit Resident Evil 4 was ported to the PS2). As it's already been mentioned a Wii translation would not be favorable in relation to the cost of developing. Capcom might have to start "bare bones" or produce a distilled version. My advice is to be patient, Resident Evil 4 was a great game and it will not be the last to appear on a Nintendo console.

I think sometimes developers are just bored of the old school feel since they've been doing it for a few years and want to challenge themselves a little. By making it for the 360 or ps3 it's like they're making the game on a completed different system unlike the Wii which is almost like the GC. The developer get to play around with next gen graphics, physics, lighting rather than just controls alone. I am just saying it's like I gave you a windows XP from a Windows 95 now program some new games with the new graphical, ext features. It seems that developers lose interests in the Wii because they feel like they're program games for the ps2 all over again and could care less about their tittles. I am just saying if I spent 5 year programs ps2-GC tittles I would get pretty bored doing it all over again on the Wii with almost no change to the hardware other than the control which alone is not enough.

I have a dreadful feeling that this is all due to the fact that it would be extra work to change everything over to the Wii, and these companies (knowingly can make the time of the costs back in a short while) do not wish to spend the time converting controls to the Wii. It should have been made on Wii first.

The Wii is great and all but this is absolute nonsense. Prime 3 and SMG looked great for the Wii but were not 360/PS3 standard unless you had blurred vision. SMG, if you look closely, is not that great. It merely knew how to disguise it's weaknesses through great, vibrant color selection and essentially making everything shine. Prime 3 simply had great designs. RE 5 looking just as good for Wii? Right then. Not possible. The fact is that this is a problem that the Wii will unfortunately continue to face...multiplatforms either can't go onto it or will be a massive step down. if RE5 were to come out on the Wii as well, gameplay wise it may be just as good, maybe better, but on an audio/visual front, it WILL be inferior.

Ok, maybe the Wii can't support the same graphics that the 360 or PS3 can, but it can get great graphics. Super Mario Galaxy has already been mentioned, and that had 360 calibur graphics. Not all 360 games are Gears of War graphics games, so that's why SMG can compare to some Xbox games. Also, enough with the Wii not being able to handle it. Madden 08 came out for all systems, and the "watering down" that has been mentioned was merely graphics. I would certainly surrender a gleam in a window or the reflections in water to play RE5 for the Wii, and anyone who disagrees is a moron. Besides, it's not like they would make it so everything was 2D.

The Wii might be able to handle RE5 but the game won't be good anyway. Of course, I like the puzzle elements of the old games better. It doesn't matter. It won't be on the Wii and thats that.

If you guys didn't mention it , every RE sequel was made on a nintendo console which includes RE 0 ,Remake , 2 , 3 and 4 . So what is the big deal if they can make the graphics quite equivalent or better than RE 4? Man , I already signed an online petition for that..... (Fingers crossed)

Even thought that box art is obviously fake, it is really cool. Well done.

If you want to play certain games you have to be prepared to buy certain hardware
