Convince me to buy one...

I love the console, i played Wii sports once and it seemed fun to me. But there aren't any GOOD games in my opinion. Yes you got zelda, and Metroid ... but i mean GOOD games like Gears of War, Ghost Recon , Rainbow Six, whatever. The Wii only has children games for now. Go to a store, compare the Wii and the XBOX360 games, find me one adult who will choose the Wii games...

And don't tell me to get super smash brothers, or mario party or any other mario stuff. I want SERIOUS gaming. I was thinking about Red Steel but its not getting alot of good comments.

My question is: is there any future for the Wii when you are a more "mature" (nothing against adults who like mario...) gamer?

I hope you got some good comments to convince me to buy a Wii, cause it has alot of potential but nothing descent is happening.

P.S. Is Wii Sports playable online? (the Wii is online right? ^^)

My Sims or something for the Wii, have you even seen it??? Do they just want the Wii to look kiddy? Even the Sims 1 on PC looks more interesting.

If you don't like what's out on the wii wait until you see soemthing you do like, besides it might be a lot easier to pick up by then.. No wii sports isn't online, online play doesn't launch until june 25th and any game released before that as no online multiplayer

they did that so the game would appeal more to the japanese community. The sims is pretty popular everywhere but there, they didn't make it that way so it would be "kiddy". Read the Issue of Nintendo Power with the game on it's cover, it explains everything as they interviewed one of the guys producing it.

Well the problem is that i don't know IF there will be any games that i'm looking for. I really love the way the Wii works, but it's silly to buy it for Wii sports only :p

I am looking forward to the online gaming though, i think that will bring alot of fun into it. And i though i've read that the Wii can get wireless conection. So its easy to use. But then again, there need to be good games for online play to ^^

You shouldn't buy a Wii because you obviously don't appreciate the truely good games. Zelda, Mario and Metroid is so much better than Rainbow Six 72 or any other console shooter who doesn't even try to invent something new. You should stick to your xbox360 and play your one million different shooter who all really are the same game with an anolog stick(haha I would rather have a cactus pushed into my **** than play a shooter with analog stick).

if i were you i would just wait until you know there is enough out there that you would like, people can make anything sound good, but you have to like it yourself. I personally love the wii and hte games that are out right now, you might not think so. Me telling you how great they are and getting you pumped up isn't going to do you any good if in teh end you are dissapointed. You know (or should know) yourself if something interests you or not, if the wii does at some point pick it up, if it never does then you saved some money for 360 games.

I haven't seen myself posting that i got an XBOX 360. And claiming that Mario is better then Gears of War is a matter of opinion, so no fanboy behaviour please. I only got a PC, i'm used of more mature games on that, but i need something new like the motion sensoring to have some different experiences while gaming.

I will gladly come by with a cactus, tell me when.

it's all a matter of what you're used to and like. I love playing with an analog stick for shooters myself but that's what i grew up on and got used to. Also a game being good or bad is mainly based on personal opinion. I've seen movies that many said was one of the best ever and I could care less about it. Does that mean i don't apprciate good movies? No, just that the one or however many don't suit my interests.

I just assumed you did since you kept talking about games on that system as if you were saying hey, I got this and these games and love them so you were wanting something like them.

gaming computers are merely I/O devices, you input something, it output something.

old style consoles use button smashes for input, and wii, use motion sensetive for input.

so for input data, wii are collecting way more data than the other consoles.

today output can be very beautiful, but input remains the the same as NES way back to 80s.

when you realize the input is the real neck issuse of the gaming thing, you'll see why NDS and WII is winning the whole gaming thing.

The wii's virtual play beats just about all the features on the xbox360 and ps3, but nintendo needs to make better games soon, there best game so far was zelda and most gamers should have beat that by now. I'm waiting for super mario galixy.

From the games that you seem to like, you might want to hold off on the Wii.  I love my Wii, personally, but I tend to enjoy more family-friendly gaming and less fragfests.  If I'm playing multiplayer it'll be World of Warcraft, but that's just me.

It appears that there are going to be more "mature" games on the Wii in the future, and it certainly seems to be holding its own in the sports genre.  However, if you're not interested at all in family-friendly games (which are still good games, just different) then you should probably look into the Xbox.

Ok good games are Gears of War, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six. While Nintendo makes great games like Mario, Metroid, and Zelda along with some new IP's and the price you cant miss. I am 23 and have both the Wii and 360 I will admit at this time the 360 has better games but that is expected with a year advantage. To me it sounds like you only like shooters because you only talk about them and think they are adult so dont get a Wii. There will be exclusives you will like but not until at least the end of 07, with No More Heroes and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles coming.

So i shouldn't go for the Wii then? You don't think there are going to be some (more then 1  ^^) good mature games? The Wii wouldn't be my main gaming machine though, mostly the PC. So i won't be buying games alot. Thats why i only need a (very) good mature game from time to time on the Wii. I'll get most other games for my PC.

P.S. I love WoW to ^^

The wii is worth it. There isnt any online multiplayer, but there most likely will be in the future. There is an online web browser that I use quite often. There is a lot of possibilities for the Wii in the future and I am glad I have one today.

Moobster

I happen to like Mario games and most all Nintendo games for that matter. I think it's unfair to call them childish, not good or not serious. Take the Wind Waker for instance. A lot of people (teenagers especially) saw it was cel-shaded and just assumed they were too mature for it. However, it's actually more mature and thoughtful than any mindless game relying on gore, swearing or boobs. As far as online play and FPS go, when you mix those two together the result is anything but mature.

To answer your question, if you truly want "good", "serious", "mature gaming", then the Wii is an excellent choice. However, if you only want online FPS, stick to your PC or 360.

The wii will have manhunt 2. :P

Godfather seems promising.

Anyways, no, don't get a wii. If the maturity of the games is important, get a 360. And a sex game.

Does are extremely mature.

It's so cute when kids get to that age that they have to have lots of blood, guts, swearing, and rap music about killing each other's mothers in a game to prove how "Mature" they are.

I think you're truly mature when you can appreciate a game for how fun it is, not how much it'll offend your grandma.

1. I'm not an offensive, frustrated kid like you who needs to give negative comments to an easy question.

2. Don't call Mario mature please...its probably a good game, very nicely done, good gameplay, ... bla bla. But not mature...

3. If i ever see a 40 year old play Mario Galaxy on a Wii. I'll laugh at him OK?

Now shoooooo fanboy ^^

if you already have a 360 or ps3,PC then i would wait to buy a wii untill it has games that suit you.I think the Wii is going to have a much better showing as far as 3rd party games and "mature/adult" orianted games. its sold threw the roof and has already demanstrated its going to have a strong userbase. Im kinda in the wait and see section. i think if i found a wii on the shelf by chance i wound buy it. 360 has far to high a hardwear failure rate from what iv seen and read for me to take a chane and drop 400+ bucks on it. PS3 is priced high as he** and the sony sestems have had a very bad track record with me as far as hardwear reliablty. So im very cautios about spending 600+ on one of those so as far as consoles go the Wii looks to be the safe bet for me.

XBOX360 is to be lowered to 290 Euros this month.... Cause of the new Xbox release.
