Just picked up this article reporting on Red Steel 3 sourcing a Nintendo magazine,

"France'sNintendo Magazinehas confirmedRed Steel 3, revealing that the first-person series will become a trilogy despite disappointing sales on the Wii. The game is said to include support for the Wii Vitality Sensor, making a tradition out ofRed Steelsupporting Nintendo's barmy add-ons.

There are literally no more details to be had at this time. I'm really pleased to hear that there might be a newRed Steel, however, since I lovedRed Steel 2and was furious that the Wii audience ignored it, like it does with nearly all good games.Red Steel 3is welcome in my house any day of the week." -Jim Sterling Destuctoid

Sounds like they may already be well into development!

I'm gonna treat this like most people around here treat HVS and Conduit news. The Red Steel developers have not created a decent game yet. So I'm not looking forward to Red Steel 3.

Despite disappointing sales? The first one sold a millions copies and was a critical bomb. The second one has been out for only a month. A statement like that, really makes me doubt the validity of this. They would have had to have this in the books before RS2 even came out, so they would have to be going off the million seller of RS1.

I'm really happy for a new red steel, As the sequel was awesome. However, I'm not sure about usingf the vitality sensor. also, I hope there is splitscreen coop and vs mode.

What ?!?! RS2 was a great game due to the gameplay alone, although short and unblanaced towards the end. Maybe not a purchase but definately a rental because of its length. Personally, i am looking forward to this game and got excited about new gameplay features until i realised ...

Well having support for the vitality sensor doesn't mean it will actively use it all the time. It could be something like having mini games that use or using it when you boot up the game or between levels or whatever. Vitality support doesn't mean you use it for the entire game.

I just can't see myself with all these contraptions on me. I got a nunchuk in my left hand which is attached to the wiimote in my right hand with the wrist strap on it, and then vitality sensor that sticks on my finger. It would just be weird :P

*revealing that the first-person series will become a trilogy despite disappointing sales on the Wii.* actually Red steel sold over a million and it sucked and red steel 2 was just released and I don't really know how the vitality sensor will be put into the game. Jeez it's quotes like those that make me mad. I think the 3rd will be more focused on extra modes like online multiplayer maybe, horde mode, co-op and split screens.

I loved RedSteel 2. The boss battles were rly engaging. Anyway i highly doubt the validity of this, but if it is true ill be happy.

Red Steel 2 had one of the best combat systems I've ever played, and beautiful visuals as well.

So you're going to use logic? Excellent! :) It wouldn't surprise me if it got a sequel. The team sounded like they had a lot more they could do with the idea of RS2 but didn't have the resources to do it (they explicitly mentioned multiplayer as one of these things). And since the gameplay of RS2 is great, an expansion of that should be good. Not so sure about the vitality sensor part.... I'll believe it when I see it.

Red Steel 2 was a huge leap in the right direction but that leap isn't that significant when the ideal shooter is still miles away. Vitality Sensor support? I see nothing good coming out of this

Yep end of thread! If Red Steel 2 bombs, I'm not sure of a third time out. They may as well come up with some other FP gun/sword IP.

that's what i thought. my "skeptinator 2000" wasn't turned on by the vitality sensor support... only. the chances of those news being true were so small i couldn't take it for true... that sounded worse than i thought >_> anyway, the game's out for a month, which means ubi doesn't have how to know if RS2 flopped. and vitality sensor support is just ridiculously iffy.

Because no publisher would say that about a game that has been out for only a month or about a game that sold over a million copies, which makes it sound like the article is not real.

Well that wasn't the publisher that said that, that was just the guy who wrote the article/update about what the publisher was saying.

That was his opinion not the publishers.

So they're confirming Vitality Sensor support when Nintendo hasn't even revealed what's it's capable of yet

Still doesn't sound believable regardless of who said it, I don't see them committing to a 3rd game before the second had any chance to be successful.

It's Nintendo's peripheral, not Ubisofts.

Nintendo should be the ones announcing support for it before anyone else, considering they haven't revealed what it does yet.

When Wii Motion Plus came out Nintendo packaged it with Wii Sports Resort, it's the same thing. The only ones who have any idea of what the Vitality Sensor can do right now is Nintendo. It's just a bit weird for Ubisoft to be confirming support for it before them imo.

Just to throw a wrench in..... Tiger Woods 10 released with MotionPlus over a month before Resort. Resort was still the first game we knew about to use it, so it's not the same as this situation (if it had been true), but Nintendo doesn't HAVE to be the first to use one of their own peripherals in a game.

I guess that's true but, with Wii Motion Plus we knew it was just going to make motion with the Wii remote1:1, it's just an enhancement.

The Vitality Sensor is brand new. We could guess and speculate what it'd be used for but only Nintendo really knows at this point.

I just think Nintendo should be the first to confirm support for it with a game. Even though Nintendo doesn't have to be the first to use it, I'd rather they did then Ubisoft :P

I don't see him saying anywhere that they had trouble translating it, heck for all we know it could have been in english. I was in france last month and good amount of magazines their were english in news stands and airports and such.

Of course almost nothing on the internet is really 100%, even if it comes straight from the developers mouth on their own sites, but imo at least this sounds pretty on the ball!

what i meant is they made up the info and then said they got the info from a french magazine so nobody would be able to check it.
