I don't know which to buy, but I would prefer the better of the two. Is it okay to play Red Steel 2 before the first one?

I've heard that the controls are more spot on for the sequel with the Motion Plus, and I would hate to be let down by trying the first one, possibly losing interest in even buying the second one to try...

Never mind... I just read the IGN review for Real Steel 2.

I'm gonna go with the second one.

RS2 all day... the first was a launch title... the 2nd takes full advantage of Wii motion + and is a far superior game

Well FYI the two games are unrelated. And I would say go ahead and grab RS1, its like 5 bucks, if even that. In fact I think you can get it in a combo pack with No More Heroes for like 10 bucks. I actually enjoyed the first Red Steel, not the best game in the world, but its fun. And the soundtrack is insane.

I will probably be labeled a heretic after this, but I really liked the first one. Wasn't a big fan of the second one.

I thought the first one was the better game, but the second one was more polished with better mechanics.

Red Steel 2 is the infinitely superior game; Better graphics, design, controls, combat, atmosphere, etc. They have nothing to do with one another storywise or game universe, which is a very good thing. Get the second, then thank yourself for it :)

Get both. RS1 for the lulz, and RS2 for when RS1 isn't funny anymore. And then also get NMH1 and 2.

Never played RS2, but avoid the original at all costs. I paid $50 for it and think it would be a waste of time for even $1. So get the second.

Red Steel 2 was really good, a large improvement over the last. Red Steel was really bad, do not touch it lol.

Is Red Steel 2 good? I think it's 10 bucks in EB Games near my place.

It's a lot better than the first, plus it's a good use of MotionPlus.

It's quite good. Intuitive gun/sword controls, great graphical style, fun upgrade system and some interesting gameplay moments. I'd give it an 8.5 or a 9.0

Red Steel 2 is incredibly good. Ignore the prequel, it's terrible and full of bugs/glitches.

Yes. Expect a kind of beat-em-up/shooting game in first person. With awesome motion plus controls. I'd consider 10 bucks for RS2 a steal.

red steel 1 was a great game until metroid prime 3 came out and showed Wii owners how a FPS should control. Red Steel 2 got it right. get that one.

Only played RS2 and from what I understand it's a sequel in name only but other than that they're totally unrelated. Also RS2 is supposed to be miles ahead of the first in terms of quality. RS2 is fun as hell.

I understand all the hate for the 1st game but It was one of the few games at launch that I enjoyed and I thought it was a good game for a launch.

I mean it had good graphics, good story, nice characters and tried to make actual use of the wiimote. The sword fighting was challenging and difficult but however the only flaws was because the wii system itself. Had the game had perfect controls I would have gave it a 8.5 - 9. I won't complain about graphics considering this is wii but at certain points I was really impressed(considering this is a wii game). Also this game had all the weapons you would like similiar to goldeneye, shotgun, pistol, rifle, uzi.etc felt very much like goldeneye which I also liked. You can find this game for 5 bucks.

The 2nd one makes use of the motion sensor and is cell shaded. The graphics and gameplay are good but in my opinion I thought the first game had the better story and character. The cell shaded graphics are nice but I did not like it as much as the 1st games in terms of style. In my opinion they should have given this game a different name because it has nothing to do with the first game. Liked all the moves you could do as well but I found this game to be more repetative and boring. I think because of the enemies and desert/wild west enviroments.
