Hey guys, I couldn't stand it any longer so I put myself in debt and bought a HDTV. I'm glad I did because games onthe 360 look awesome and I can finally read the damn text in Dead Rising. Admittedly the Wii's graphics aren't quite on par with the 360's so I was wondering if it is worth getting the high def cables for Wii or won't it make that much of a difference? It's strange that they don't include them with the console but owell. Thanks
well i think they are worth it i got them and legend of zelda looks better with them it makes every game look good althought it doesnt look like the360 it makes a difference
It does. Do yourself a HUUUGE favor, and pick up some non-first party (cheaper) cables at best buy, set it to 16:9 480p, pop in Zelda and have your mind blown as it goes from like a PS2 game to just plain wow.
Note: You get a similar visual improvement going from Composite (the one that comes with the Wii) cable to RGB cable (the one with a scart socket built in). I haven't noticed much difference between RGB and Component. Course it does depend on what connectors your TV happens to have.
Yes. As I do not have them myself (yet), I cannot give you that great of an opinion on the topic, but what I can say is that they do make a big difference. While they still won't compare to what your 360 has to offer, they will still greatly improve what your wii has to offer.
I just obtained a HiDef cable and hooked up my Wii console to my 4:3 HD TV. I set all the settings (EDTV, 480p) and it works, BUT on several menus, I get an instability at the top of the screen (a wiggling and a shaking). This appears in the Home menu and a few others, but not in the games that I tried. Has anyone seen this and if so, how do you fix it?. Thanks
From the pics I've seen, the extra cost of high-def cables to get the EDTV visuals probably isn't worth it. It doesn't look like enough of a boost in the refresh rate (which makes me question the pics, really) to make enough of a difference in picture quality, especially depending on the age of your tv. More to the point, with the games being released these days with their focus moving away spectacular graphics (not that that's a bad thing, mind you. Done right, that can be a rather nice complement to the game really), it may be even less of an issue.
Polished games will look better (Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy, De Blob) but unpolished ones like No More Heroes will look worse. All the graphical flaws that composite hides are exposed when you use Component. Overall though I'd say they're worth it :)

Must be something to do with your TV being 4.3 :? can't really advice you I am afraid, try searching for your specific television with 480P feeds.

Third party cables are £5 on Ebay and work perfectly I think you don't really know what you are talking about.
