Alright back when I was getting SMG, Gamespot and IGN gave it a certain date (which was I believe a Monday) that it would come out but infact it was actually the Shipping date.

My question is, for games like God of War: Coo and Super Smash Bros are the dates given on Gamepost/IGN the shipping dates or actually release dates?

God of War - March 4th
Super Smash Bros - March 9th

Thanks!

They are the shipping dates. They use these dates as a guide to say you should be able to find them in stores any day from that day on. For God of War most stores advertise it in stock on Wednesday March 5, the same with MLB 08 The Show and most other big name games. Smash Bros may actually be released in stores on Sunday March 9 because Nintendo has a weird affiliation with releasing things on Sunday (e.g. Wii and DS launches), but I don't plan on picking it up so I am not sure. Hope that helped.

Hmm I figured that. I actually pre-ordered both of those games, I'll probably call them and see if they will have it on that day or exactly when.

Thanks!

Smash is a street date but most all games are ship dates... so smash you can actually get on the 9th but most of the time you will get it the day after the date.

Usually, the game will be in stores a day after the shipping date (which is most often the date listed). In the case of a game like Smash Bros., it will likely be released on the date listed. Bigger titles usually get those privileges. I remember Guitar Hero III was the same way.
