I hated it....but not because it was the wii edition. The games was just two slow for me. I sold it and deleted my file. It was the first wii game i got. It was so slow for me that i was not playing my wii at all. So i finally said forget this, put in DBZ and never looked back.
This is my favorite Resident Evil. Once I unlocked the infinite rocket launcher, it was all fun. I wish Capcom would make a re-make of RE2 and Code Veronica so I can complete all Resident Evil games (I have the remakes of Zero, 1, and RE5 on 360).
Capcom are releasing HD versions of RE4 and Code Veronica on XBLA later this year. On topic - I loved RE4 Wii Edition. Best version of the game IMO. I've lost count of the amount of times I've played through RE4 on GC and Wii. It's up there with Half-Life 2 and Ninja Gaiden Black for my most played game. This is my favorite Resident Evil. It is amazing fun when you get that. My dad hates controlling the Wii but this game changed his mind a bit because for a couple of months literally every night he just played this game. He unlocked that rocket launcher and tried to go through the whole game without blowing himself up with it! The crosshair you get when using the wiimote made the game really easy, but other then that its still a great version.
Definitely the definitive version of the game. For the budget price it was set at to boot, I couldn't not get it.GabuExWhen I got the game it had been out for a year or so and the price had dropped a bit. I managed to get it at about 10 so I was pretty happy when I got that much enjoyment for such a good price.
Haha, it can be creepy sometimes and if it makes you jump while your playing then a lot of things can go wrong :P The Wii cursor just flies across the screen and hell Breaks loose!I just got it and it's really fun. It's just that creepy music that gets me..:?

i love the original game, but i did not like the motion controls at all. or i guess i should say that i did not like the visual backlash from the motion controls. a big reason why RE4 is such a visually stunning game is that the HUD generally stays the hell out of my game world. not only is the laser sight very small, it also has context in the gameworld. having a bright red reticule floating around was distracting and out of place compared to the laser sight. having a nasty blur effect only made it even more hideous.
im sure plenty of people dont care about the reticule, but its a big deal to me when the original handled it so well.
I don't really mind the reticule but the laser sight does look so damn cool. I couldn't even get out of the first village in the gamecube version. Port to wii andthrow in some motion controls, and you have a game so amazing, I played through it 23 times, and still want to play it. I've played 1-3 on PS, 1 was ground breaking, 2 was a vast improvement, 3 was stale (to me by that point). 4 turned it on its head and delivered a story and characters I love, bosses that I still enjoy blasting the crap out of, and graphics that are still damn good 5 years later.

I wasn't very good with "dual sticks" at the time. the headshots ARE a lot easier on wii.
You just gotta try get into to it. Resident evil as a FPS would be pretty bad imo. I personally can play FPS controls and Over-the-shoulder controls because they're not REALLY that different. I suppose it's just personal preference. Too bad you couldn't enjoy it.i couldn't handle the controls...and i sold it..
tried the classic controller too and was still very different from FPS i play on the 360...
why couldnt the wiimote controls be like metroid prime , call of duty or goldeneye?

It's sweet. Definitely the best version of the game. I've finished the game about 7 times or something on the GC, plus everything else that version had to offer, including all stars on all Mercenaries maps, etc. I've finished the Wii version almost 2 times, plus the Ada thingy that wasn't in the GC version.
But I'm not as much in love with the Wii controls as everyone else seems to be. I liked the laser pointer, and I dislike the reticule. The Wii controls also made the game much easier, so I still prefer the GC controller for RE4.
It'd be pretty good if you were able to use a GameCube/Wii Classic controller if you had one plugged in but it sticks you in with the Wii Remote which kinda sucks. It's sweet. while not a fan of the series (didn't really like 5 and have no interest to play 1-3) I loved 4, you fought a giant lake monster on small row boat using a harpoon and the game had midget napoleon, that alone made the game awsome
I did play the PS2 ver but since I rarely play shooters I suck at dual analog aiming so the wii mote was a warmly welcome change for me :P
I got my first Wii just to Paly this game again (own it on GC an special edition on PS2), while i will agree the reticule completley made the immersion of the laser sight redundant added to realism)it actually ramps up the fun factor due to the accuracy you achieve from the Wiimote controls, it's an absolute sinch to aim at heads, arms, legs, to gain the desired effects, nothing like shooting a zombie in the shin and then kicking his head off.
The extras in the Wii version were good and the disparity between cutscenes and game was less noticeable than the PS2 version, not quite as seamless as the GC version though, which i found odd. Although i still adore the original GC version, the Wii version reminded me just what a masterpiece RE4 is. By comparison RE5 is like RE4 stripped down, added co-op and prettier but for some reason less atmospheric, and nearly souless in it's execution.
I agree with you for the most part. I prefer the laser pointer in the original version, I had excellent aim with it because I played the GC version like 15 times before the wii version came out and constantly played Mercenaries. The Wii version is good for the extra content, though I had played it all on the PS2 version before as well. Beat it a couple of times on the Wii, but I could never get my Mercenaries as high as I did on the GC version. I was just more comfortable with the GC controller. But that could have something to do with the Wii in general. I'm tempted to buy Twilight Princess on the GC just because I can't seem to go through it again with the half baked motion controls. It's sweet. Definitely the best version of the game. I've tried and I haven't been able to.You know you can use the gamecube controller too right?

For me, RE4 is my absolute favourite game on Wii, followed by COD:MW
My dad loves to play it aswell, he thinks its pretty fun, but I have to watch him play coz he keeps forgetting the controls (how do I pause, quick?!!), or wants me to tell him when hes coming up to a hard bit, or which gun to use at a certain point.
Its loads of fun, id recommend to anyone interested in a good action/shooter horror type of game with puzzles added in here and there. Lots of replay value and cool extras once youve finished the game!
9/10 (-1 is for no online play, but I still love it!)
I don't know why, but for some strange reason I get motion sickness from playing the Wii version. The only other game that has ever done is Doom 64. Def sucks, bedcause I bought the game and I really can't play it.
RE4 is an excellent game. However, after the gameplay improvements 5 made, it's difficult to play.
I'm hoping the HD remake will use RE5's control scheme.

I absolutly LOVE it! I've beatin this version so many times I think I got like the 3rd alternate costume or something! And I LOVE what the Wii controls do for the game, give you a MUCH better grib on the situation! This is one of my all time favorite, most played Wii games.... AND I've beatin the GameCube version atleast TWICE before that! ;D

I dont like it, I LOVE it!
Im jealous the other consoles are getting it in HD. I hope the new Nintendo console had some kind of HD RE4 too

so RE5 controls normal? god i hope re4 HD does also.
It's better than the PS2 version but I'll always prefer the original, same with any other game. Bonus content always feels tacked on and useless to me. RE4 itself was easily the most groundbreaking game in ages. I remember just seeing demo footage and knowing I'll be getting a GC for that game
I rememebr I was in collage at the time when I beat the original for GameCube. It was freshmen year for me, and when I got to the end of the game, the final stage, more and more people poured into my room, and soon enough I had CHUNK of my dorm floor in the room watching me beat the final boss in RE4,GameCube. EPIC TIMES for and MORE THEN EPIC GAME! 8D
