Hi all. I was watching the video reviews for Resident Evil 4 Gamecube version and Wii edition. I'm debating on whether to get this game on the Wii. For those of you who has played both versions, are the graphics much better than the Gamecube version? If so, please elaborate. Thanks in advance.

Not much has changed graphic-wise but the controls are A LOT better. There is also a lot of extra content from the PS2 version.

It combines the "graphical superiority" of the GCN version with the extra content of the PS2 version, plus most consider the controls to be a major improvement. They really don't take advantage of the Wii's extra horsepower, except for maybe an improvement in the framerate of the game.

Yes, I have all 3 console versions and the wii version is deffinitly the best, all the extra stuff from PS2 version, with the perfomance and visuals of the GC version, also adds wii mote gameplay which I really enjoy.

By far the best version, there is nothing like being pinned in a corner and using the wiimote to blow off the heads...

Graphics are the same as gamcube.

The gameplay is without a doubt, better on the Wii.

Ive played all 3 versions and the Wii is by far the best. It has the superior Gamecube graphics, the extra content from the PS2 version and the superb Wii contols. Other than that it s has a slightly better frame rate (not the frame rate was ever an issue for the gamecube version) and it has a few more enemis on screen at times.

I wouldn't bother with the game. In my opinion the controls are so awful in both versions that it's unplayable.

I'd recommend the Wii version, if only for one reason.

If you don't like the Wii controls, you can just as easily use a standard controller. But if you buy the GCN version, there's no Wii controller option (which works pretty well...but could be improved).

I owned the GC version and my brother owned the Limited Edition PS2 version. The Wii version is better than both. The graphics look great, the gameplay is smooth. The controls alone are worth the purchace, especially if you would like to unlock all the bottle caps.

id have to agree with you, if he thinks the controlls were horrible, then his controller must have been broken or something, i thought the controlls made the game a whole more professional, i like the idea of being able to shoot 5 zombies in the head in 1 second

I've only got the Wii version but is it too much to ask to be able to aim and walk at the same time?

Yeah, I heard it's more action-oriented and less spooky/suspenseful. I think Resident Evil 5 is going to take the same direction. I think it already has.

"it made me like the game. that is what's so great about this version."

I like what you said here. I think you and everyone else just convinced me to get the game. As for the price, I heard someone say $20 brand new. I checked Ebay and well, it's right around the $30-40 bin. I'll probably grab a used one for cheaper so if I end up not liking it, I wont feel so bad. I loved the Resident Evil series since the PS1 days up until Dreamcast's Code Veronica. Code Veronica is my favorite so far. I never played Resident Evil 4 but I heard so many great things about this game in its Gamecube days. Thank you for the awesome feedback and input. You guys seem like a very mature bunch.

Feel free to keep this thread alive for other gamers on the fence about Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.

The controls make this one of the top games to play on the Wii, even though it's a port. I've you've never played RE4 on another console, then you HAVE to get this game for the Wii, IMO.

Is there an online mode? I didn't even know there was one (or he claims) until I saw this review. He doesn't go into much detail, what is there to do online???

Wow, that's honestly the worst review I think I've ever seen. Way to take one small part of the game (in the beginning, mind you) and base your review off that.

I know he's just some pathetic no-name, but seriously?

The Wii version is what you would call the best of both world; it contains the extra contents from the PS2 version (weapons, a whole NEW campaign, Mercenaries, and much more) and true wide screen, while it contains the much superior graphics of Gamecube version. The Wii version also has some better things, such as better frame rate, more enemies on screen thanks to Wii's extra horse power, plus AMAZING Wii + nunchuck controls! (but you can use Gamecube or Classic controller, but do not use them)
