Could RE5 be on the Wii?Highly doubt itAmaterasu00
There is a difference could RE5 be on the wii and if it could it be done on the Wii with the 360 graphics. Of course the game could be on Wii but it won't look like the 360. Just imagine RE4 with sharper textures, lighting and effects.
Capcom never said it couldnt eventually happen (they didnt say it could ether).
IMO it could but with nerfed graphic and most likely fewer enemy at the same time.
There's no way it "cold" be possible. But it could. :D
I honestly don't think that it will ever port over to the Wii, and that's why Capcom did give us Umbrella Chronicles for the time being. We'll see for now, but if it does ever happen, I don't think it will for another couple years.
i was just wondering since re4 was a gc and ps2 game before it moved to wii .....and i dont really think reuc will last for a whiledstv
No offense but i think the chances are none. They are giving us UC already. And the wii is still trying to shake its childish/casual friendly only image. Also the wii install base is smaller then the ps3/360 install base, and the attachment rate for 3rd party games on the wii is low compared to 360 alone. So multiplating it is really the finacially better option. If the 360 keeps selling 2 million units a year and the 360 4 mill and the wii 10 millish, then maybe there is a chance of spinoff or something, but they are not going to throw away 2 years of work just to slap it on the wii with the current state of things.

Riiiiight.... so no one is releasing non-kiddie games on the Wii. Oh, except RE4, RE:UC, Godfather, Scarface, Manhunt 2, No More Heroes......
Besides why would it mean throwing away work? If they release it on the Wii it doesn't mean they have to cancel the other versions!

You really think they could get a higher end ps3/360 engine running on a wii?
Go watch the trailer... you will get your answer once you do.Rocky32189
The question is not if the 360/PS3 version can be done on wii the question is will we see RE5 on wii. The engine doesn't make the game, the story does. They could use a enchanted RE4 engine to make RE5 on Wii.

ROFL! Then it isnt the same game! There is more to a game then story. So you are telling me they could release a digital novel and that would be the same as actually owning RE5? (I know thats not what your saying, its just a dramatic example) Changing the engine makes it a drastically different game. NGB ====> sigma was and entirely different experience and since advanced lighting and huge numbers of enemies are two elements capcom wants to put in the game, they cant put it on the wii. The wii's AI would have to be horrible, the graphics would have to be horrible, and they would have to reevaluate the entire role lighting is going to play in the upcoming gaming. I know you want it to happen, but its just not going to. That is why we get UC. Maybe if the other systems keep bombing we will get 6 kind of like monster hunter 3, but its safe to say 5 is lost. Most we could get that is 5 related is a spin-off.
No! They would basically create the game from the ground up since RE5 is being built for the 360 and PS3 to take advantage of the advanced hardware. To take the game and put it on wii, capcom would have to design and create a game that would work on the wiis hardware. It would be a huge waste of time and money since they could just as easily make an original game for wii. If there already is no plan to have RE5 on wii, then there never will be. A re-build would be come out years later and would divert resources from making newer better games. People just need to let this go and buy another system if they want RE5.Darthmatt
Agreed. I hope it comes to pc ;D.

I suppose it's possible, but it would be so downgradeed it's just not worth it. That's a game that I'll be playing on a next gen console, not my wii.
i rememberan article saying they would do it if re4 and reuc sell well.nintendoman562
If you could find that article and link it, I would love to see it because that would be phenomenal news.
i rememberan article saying they would do it if re4 and reuc sell well.nintendoman562Here's the article.
The key quotes are: "They haven't decided if they will port RE5 on Wii yet." "The decision is not made yet."
This leaves the door wide open for the Resident Evil 5 to come to the Wii. I payed a visit to Capcom's "Ask Capcom" and this question has been asked of them many times: "Why don't you just port Resident Evil 5 to the Wii?" They say the game can't be done on the Wii since its being made from the ground up for 360 and PS3, but that seems to set the forums ablaze with reasons why it could work on the Wii and how it could look good if made to the Wii's strengths(see my previous post on the TEV unit in Wii). There are many graphics discussions going on right now and many people are quick to discount the Wii. However if the producer of Resident Evil 4 hasn't decided if RE5 will come to the Wii yet, then you know that graphics are not really an issue to them(it is much easier to convert High-Res textures to Low-Res Textures than Low-Res to High-Res) its really the money. Capcom can make a port for the Wii and make it look similar enough to the other versions for a fraction of the cost. This doesn't confirm anything for sure but the possibility is very high. Another reason why Capcom would release Resident Evil 5 for the Wii would be to make a profit to cover development costs of the other versions. Capcom

It's already been built on a different engine. They would need to completely rebuild the game, which they won't do.

NGB is basically the same as sigma, graphics don't change the game. Let me give you a spin on what you're saying. Remember a long time ago when consoles couldn't handle arcade ports? Thats like saying games like the sega saturn version of virtua fighter 2 or the snes version of super street fighter 2 wasn't the same game. Which isn't true, its the same with downgraded graphics. It would be nice to see RE5 on Wii, but it doesn't bother me if it does or doesn't come on the system. I personally would prefer a entirely new game like a code veronica.

Lol, you are not understanding me, I am saying that the more advanced engine allows for more advanced gameplay mechanics. Particularly lighting in RE5's case. Down porting from an advanced engine would eliminate parts of the advanced version that will make RE5 distinct.

I'm understanding perfectly, lighting doesn't equal gameplay. Was RE4 the ps2 version without the dynamic lighting different from the GCN version? No, the visuals were just downgraded. Again, what you're saying is games on consoles before they could replicate the arcade machines sucked because they weren't visually on par with them. But that isn't true at all.

Once again, AI, number of enemies on screen, ... I would have to say both those heavily affect gameplay.
I wouldn't care about graphics being nerfed, however, things like AI, physics ect. would be. Even if it does come to the Wii, your MUCH better off getting it for another system.sexy_chimp

Ok, ok, I get it, You wouldnt, but shareholders and business savy folk would consider it a failure, for many many reasons, none of which I am going to get into in the wii forum for fear of off topic modding. So back to RE5 wii.
Dr. DudeMan is right. RE5 on the Wii would be a fundamentally different (and ultimately inferior) game. "Could" they do it? Perhaps. The real question is "should" they do it? And the answer is no. People need to quit complaining when games don't come out for every system. If you want RE5 then go and buy a 360 or a PS3. Don't have the money to buy another system? Then just be happy with what you have (Mario Galaxy, SSBB, etc). bobtheflounder
I am glad somebody understood what I was trying to say =D! lol
