You have to wonder why they didn't just go with $40 to begin with.

Well, according to Capcom, because it cost them more to make, since Revelations is being released on a 4 GB game cartridge instead of the 2 GB ones most 3DS games come out on. That being said, I'm glad Revelations is back down to the $40 price, I wasn't looking forward to $50 becoming the standard price for 3DS games. It seems like there was probably enough backlash against the original price point that they backed out of it.

They say that, but I never bought it. Metal Gear Solid 3D is using a 4GB card as well, and it's gonna be $40 as well. charging an extra 10 is just capcom, being capcom. Glad they got some sense and dropped it. I will probably pick it up day 1 now.
I kinda wanted the case though! It looked kinda cool and I am getting sick of all the smudges on my 3DS.

Your post had me curious so today at gamestop I had the clerk check his computer to see if you still get the free case even though the price dropped and he said yes.
