Overall, it's not very scary. Sometimes you have monsters that seem to come out of nowhere or sneak up behind you.

It's an awesome game though! ;)

The sad truth is Resident Evil can never be scary as I'd days even the great atmosphere. It just that we know too much about the story and we saw these characters deal with monsters before, so its hard feel scare for them.

It's scary at first. So be sure to play with headphones alone in a dark night. After advancing trough the game, it stops being scary.

Playing it alone in the dark with headphones on, yeah it can get a bit intense. But its still on a portable which kind of takes away most of the dear factor it has... Which reminds me, I need to go beat the game. Been playing Tales of Abyss for 100+ hours that Resident Evil revelations sort of lost my attention. Well, that's mostly due to the fact that I was stuck on one particular part where I kept dying....

Played with headphones in a dark room it was scarier than Resident Evil 5 to me. However, still not nearly as scary as the old ones. I guess **** controls can help to create some tension ;)

Lots of good jump scares in it, I'd say. And they got me a few times even after I started expeting them so that's something.

At the start until after the girl you find dead turns into a monster it is a bit then it loses it. I don't like scary movies and games but I've played every resident evil since 4 with ease and enjoyment

You pretty much need to create the scary atmosphere yourself, overall it has more grotesque parts than it does scary/jumpy.

This. The sound quality of the 3DS is horrible. So yes, be sure to have headphones.
The only place where I was slightly scared was when Rachael got killed. Otherwise, the game is predictable; it hangs when new enemies appear so there are no jump scares, etc. Not really scary.Rod90
F*** you for that spoiler. Cero consideration for the people who havent finished the game.

They told us that Rachael was getting killed when they told us that she was in the game, I think. Not a really game-changing 'spoiler'.

I only noticed the game hanging when enemies appeared in Raid mode...

It can be mildly scary in the beginning, but the second half of the game isn't scary at all.

There was one specific part that was really scary and intense for me, at least:
When you face Rachael as a boss for the first time, and she comes alive and chases you throughout the ship. The music during that part is really good.
No but very atmospheric more reminiscent of the older games.
