My girlfriend has had my old DS for a few months now, and with her birthday coming up, i've decided its time she got some games of her own, as she currently only borrows mine. If she ends up enjoying them, I'll probably get her a DSi this summer to replace my old DS original.

I picked up The Legendary Starfy and Rhyhm Heaven a couple days ago, but after reading some reviews, I'm considering returning the latter. My question is, how hard is this game? Reviews I've read say i can be quite challenging for people that are musically inclined, and because she isn't that much of a gamer yet, i'de rather not start her off with something thats going to be really difficult for her.

I am quite posibly the most rythmicly challenged person on gamespot, I could never even finish 1 guitar hero song even if its the easyest and i must say that even though i sucked in the begining, I managed to do well in the game since its really hard dont get me wrong but it never made feel like its unfair

I had a hell of a time with that game - and I play Rock Band and the Guitar Hero games on expert and have my performer's certificate for piano. I don't know if it's because the cues for that game are almost more visual than musical or what, but I just couldn't do it. I mean, I did pass the levels, but only barely, and I didn't finish the game because it just got too frustrating. The amount of time you have to accurately tap out a beat is ridiculously small. My girlfriend made it three levels in, ejected the game, gave it back to me, and told me she never wanted to see it again. But there are people who love it, so who knows.

I found it quite difficult. I lost my patience and gave up pretty quickly. In general I'm actually okay at most rhythm games though (DDR, Rockband, Guitar Hero etc.).

I didn't think it was too bad. Some of the levels are more difficult than others. If anything, I'd say that the game is easy to get into but difficult to master.

I thought it was hard, but I was able to get to the end even though I am not very good at rhythm games.

Some levels made me want to trow my ds on the window. And that because I play guitar.

But not all levels are like that.

i ended up returning it for bigbang mini at a different gamestop today. that was originally what i was looking for, but the store didn't have it in stock. i feared that rhythm heaven could put an early end to her life in gaming, lol

Its hard, but certainly;y manageable, the learning curve isnt that high. For someone that isnt a gamer though, I can see it being pretty difficult

They should of called it Rhythm Hell for how insanely, and unfairly difficult it is. It starts off easy enough, but then, after the first set of games, the game suddenly ratchets up the difficulty to impossible levels that even the most skilled gamers would struggle with. I swear, that game is evil.
