De facto Limited Edition 3DS?

Well yeah, now that Pimp Purple is on its way, they probably felt bad asking money for lesser colors like Aqua Blue.

It's only confirmed that this is happening in Japan right now, NoA and NoE haven't said if they're also going to stop making them.

Japan already has a good amount of colors and special edtions:

It makes sense that they would stop making a color that (probably) wasn't selling well.

Wow, has Nintendo ever ceased the production a specific colored system before? I wonder how many Aqua Blue 3DS have sold so far...? Not that it matters as I own a Aqua Blue 3DS.

Alrigth, my $249.99 Aqua Blue 3DS is going a collectable now, need to take better care of it :P

Im glad I picked the Aqua Blue 3DS. If they discontinue the color in other countries then this will probably be a rare color for the 3DS. It just makes people who own Aqua Blue 3DS's more special.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the aqua blue 3ds's having loose hinges. or are they all like that?Shinobishyguy

I thought both the aqua blue and cosmos black had loose hinges at launch, or was it mostly aqua blue that had those problems? Although mine does have a slightly loose hinge it's not bad enough to get another one.

Yes it is a launch 3DS, and its the aqua blue one.

Aside from the Special Edition Fire Emblem or Zelda 3DS, Aqua Blue was easily the best color. Oh well, I've got it so no skin off my bones. That darker blue isn't bad though.

EDIT: oh, that. eh, it's a bit too "raw" for me. aqua blue was more subtle. get me a dark blue one and i buy it though.

I think he means the cobalt blue 3DS that was released in Japan. It's in that one picture on the first page of this thread.

Good riddance, it's by far the ugliest 3DS colour and like the purple GameCube I can't believe Nintendo uses it in promo materials. I guess this sort of proves its the least in demand model...in Japan, anyway.DJ_Lae
