After that shameful act of stupidity I no longer see how Nintendo can function as a company or be taken seriously...

As the company who slaughtered the all migthy Sony in the gaming market, we better take them seriously.

R.I.P. Nintendo?

More like good job nintendo. Look at that video. Four adults are playing video games. This is the image that Nintendo is trying to get out to people. They are trying to break that boundry. They are trying to expand video games to make them a source of mainstream entertainment like movies.

How is this at all a bad thing? When would you ever see four adults that age playing video game's together? never.

Just because they didnt show off "teh ubzerz hardcorez gamez" your getting mad? They still have plenty of software for you as do third parties. Most gamers IGNORE the software because its incredible niche or it's art direction is too "KIDDY".

Also, did you ever realize most of Nintendo's core franchises can be considered casual themselves? Mario? Casual. Zelda? Casual. Smash Bros? Casual. Mario Kart? Causal.

To me thats not the point. The point is Nintendo made it seem likee WiiMusic and WiiSports were some type of HUGE announcement, when in reality they weren't. Im Happy AC and Wii Speak will be coming, but that's all I liked about the conference. Everything else was catered towards, I hate to say it, the casuals. Which I wouldnt mind, if we have gotten at least our 1 Big announcment,But we didnt. I mean if they would have said GTA was for the Wii, I would have been happy, but it's for the DS so it means nothing to me.

If four people getting up on stage playing Wii Music signifies the death of a company, I don't even want to know what "riiiiiiiiidge racer" did to a certain other company. :P

Honestly people, can we get some perspective on this matter?

For the Casual Market, those are huge announcements. And E3 has a lot of coverage from casual press. You get the idea.

Yeah I know and I fully understand and thats not why im dissapointed. I just feel like we should have got at least 1 more game showing. Hell, even if they had announced the Conduit being published by nintendo I would of been happy. I dont mind the casual approach at all because lets face it, its all about the money. But dont forget about us too you know. We wanted to see something other then AC and Wii Speak. I guess we still have the upcomiong days ahead of us.

Once this casual gamer grabfest is over (next gen) things will get back to normal, but even better! :)

I don't see why not, anyways. They can't campaign for non-gamers forever, right?

Is it just me, or am I the only one that notices these are not the final representations of the games?

I'm especially excited for the Motion plus thingy. That device could be the thing that brings the original idea of sword fights to life! RedSteel 2 anyone?

RIP? no. maybe a coma or long nap. give nintendo's developers a little time with wii motion plus and I think it will be worth the lull in nintendo's lineup. and until then we still have a fairly decent 3rd party lineup.

Yeah i thought about red steel 2 when they annouced it.

And yes, it was a bit disapointing... but i must say wii sports 2 actually looks fun.

As for the 4 adults playing video games, it was just flatout embarrasing to watch.

Actually, I would consider Mario, Zelda, and Smash Bros to be hardcore... for kids. Heck, I play them myself, but how about MadWorld, Madden 09, Star Wars TFU, and other hardcore games with more mature content? I'm glad that the DS is bringing out GTA Chinatown Wars but more needs to be done.

There's a reason why fancy restaurants stay in business despite cheaper and easier-to-make food being sold elsewhere. It's the same reason why people's fears are entirely unfounded that the video game market will one day become solely casual in nature.

RIP? Really? Did you see Sony's conference today? Their's was nothing to get that getty about either. They didn't drop any bombs. I don't think anyone's were that great other than the Final Fantasy XIII announcement yesterday. Plus, all you haters finally got your microphone. It's not a headset but it still looks pretty cool.

I think Nintendo is still headed in the right direction. Plus, people are underplaying how great the new motion sensing device is. 1:1 gaming has amazing possibilities. The new Zelda will be ridiculously amazing I think. Also, imagine future baseball and golf games if they utilize the technology.

I've known plenty of adults who play video games so that is not really the best excuse in the world. They are trying to attract the peolpe who never played video games, which are women. There no denying it. After the presentation and how they were bragging how women and the older adults have been playing the wii, you know what they are trying to accomplish. Nintendo already has the Kids,Teens and young Adults buying their console. They are trying to get the attention of the females and older adults. And as far as I know it is working. I know plenty of females who think the Wii is cool. Hell, I wouldnt mind telling a girl she wants to come over and play with my Wii :)

It is amazing how quickly this turned into a 'whats hardcore?' topic... why does that always happen with the Wii. Maybe because they showed the Rock Band Wii equivalent where you didn't actually have to do anything but... i can't believe I'm using the term but it is so true... waggle a remote around and it plays it right for you. This conference was an epic fail for peaking my own interests in the Wii. But I did get some good ideas for christmas gifts for my kids (5 and 2). I agree that Nintendo is dead to 'me' as an individual, but I still like the variety I can let my kids play.

so my big thing about the new motion sensor is aside from a small handful of games, I haven't found any to really implement the use of the original wii-mote. does this mean we'll have to wait even longer for developers to figure out the 'new' technology?

or can they simply tack on the waggle controls like most of the crap I've seen out there...

come on, Nintendo. Throw us a bone

Wth is wrong with the people who base the entire future of Nintendo on an E3 flop? Do they just phase out every other game and thing about it that wasn't shown at the main presentation? Why Nintendo didn't feature more hardcore games, I dunno, but they sure as hell exsist, and you can't deny it just because they won't be technically as hyped.

It don't make no sense to me.

So what Nintendo didnt show any HUGE game for a hardcore gamer. But if you actually listened at the begining Roger said The teams that brought you Mario and the Zelda franchises are working on something new. Nintendos focus was the casual gamerand i think the games they showed are appealing to them. The new wii sports looks good and the new motion plus looks like its going to make the wii so much better. Give it time Metroid Mario and Zelda have already been released and it takes time to make a game great. I would imagine you would see atleast 1 sequal to one of those games shown at next years E3.

Well said. For example, I didn't think the show was all that great, but it doesn't take away from how excited I am for future titles like Tales of Symphonia 2, MLB Power Pros 08, FF Crystal Chronicles, and this little game that will one day come out... what is it called... oh yeah ZELDA!

I think the general message on this issue is that, although to the hardcore/oldskool gamer Nintendo's E3 presentation today was shameful, that doesn't mean they are abandoning our market. With Wii Music they are simply trying to reach people who think playing a song on GH or Rockband hitting 100% notes on Expert with your eyes closed is somewhat difficult. There will be more titles for us to enjoy. That being said, for us oldskoolers, yes the presentation was somewhat disappointing because it barely addressed our market. That doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean that Nintendo will die. They seem to be doing quite well in terms of profit.

I, a true nintendo fan, died a little watching that part of the press conference, then I remenber how fun the other games I play on the Wii and how dumb I look and my friends look, and how funny it will be handing a Wii mote to my drunk friend in college and video tape that and just to post it everywhere. This is why you buy a Wii, to have fun and blackmail your friend.

Honestly I been waiting for some the stuff they show this E3 and I am a happy, happy there make the Wii work for sword fighting games, yay for the mic, nintendo will die when gaming dies, gaming isnt dead yet
