now, this poll dosent mean specifically the games on the wii, but the two series in general. I prefer Rock band, more consistant DLC, dosent have a new game every three months, and a better on-disc music.

Rock Band just has a soul and care for attention that Guitar Hero just lacks nowadays. Harmonix clearly knows music better than Neversoft, and they definitely have more of a love for it than Activision does.
I bought the RB bundle when it first came out, so I didn't get to try the sunburst controller for RB2 until a few weeks ago. Oh man, it just felt so nice. Perfect weighting and delicious fret buttons. I think I'm gonna splurge on one eventually.
I am going to get the new bundle of Rock Band 2 along with the two track packs already own Rock Band 1 with the older guitar for wii.Rock Band just has a soul and care for attention that Guitar Hero just lacks nowadays. Why the living hell are they being compared? You play them the same on the consoles and the only differences are the developer/publishers and how the music notes are put out on the same way the highways are moving? *facepalms at entire thread* nintendoboy16There are more differences. Rock Band's note charts make more sense, as in, they don't artificially increase the difficulty by making you play keyboard parts and stuff like that. Plus, Guitar Hero games can only connect two Wiis online, while you can get three different bandmates online in Rock Band 2 fairly quickly. That being said, Rock Band instruments don't work with Guitar Hero games, while Guitar Hero instruments DO work with Rock Band 2. That makes the Guitar Hero: World Tour bundle a much, MUCH wiser investment. Everything else depends on which song lists you like better. For example, Guitar Hero: Metallica has a Mercyful Fate song AND a video game version of my personal idol: King Diamond. That alone made me buy the game as soon as I could. But that was MY case.
i'd get the guiter hero bundle that way you have the better drums and guitars and stuff
then i would just buy rock band 2 game only that way you have the best of both worlds

It's the gameplay, which are the same, holding down buttons and strumming. Third off, the World Tour bundle dosen't work with any Rock Band, now does it? (last I checked, World Tours drums don't work with any Rock Band, where as Rock Band's drums work with World Tour on the PS2)
Ask me this question a few months back and I would say Guitar Hero and bash Rock Band. Having played Rock Band, I now understand why it got such high scores and why everyone loves the game. Everything in the game is fantastic! From the songs to the mutiplayer to the DLC is offers, everything is great. I also love the band elements in the game such as being able to save bandmates using overdrive, combining overdrive for bigger multiplier, unison bonus, ending bonus, etc. Also, singing is a lot easier in Rock Band. I mean, I can actually READ the lyrics.
I'm gonna have to say Rock Band all the way! Although I do like some Guitar Hero stuff like open bass notes, character customization (I can't seem to change my height and weight on RB! :x ) and Hotel California....

They're completely different games.
Guitar Hero adds in notes that follow the rhythm then builds as the difficulty increases
Rock Band starts with the basic notes and incorporates all of them as the game's difficulty increases
They're built two completely different ways

Also, this girl made these videos to prove it:

Microphones, of course, are an entirely different thing. Pretty much any USB microphone will work with any music game on any console. Just to play it safe, one should avoid "weird" USB microphones, like the one that connects two microphones to the same USB port. But a simple USB microphone should work for all games, regardless of what console you have or what game you are playing.

They both have their pluses and minuses. Guitar Hero has better guitars, more challenge which makes for a better single player game, and has way more personality. Rock Band while kinda bland is more competantly made, has better DLC, and is a better overall party game. The export song feature on Rock Band for the 360/ps3 version is amazing, but the guitars are horrible. I love both though. If I'm playing by myself I prefer Guitar Hero as it seems more like a videogame. Rock Band is better for having friends over as its easier, has a more diverse setlist, and is more about enjoying songs in a new way than a straight out rythem game like Guitar Hero.
I own both, and choosing one is like choosing one child over another. So, here's my opinion
graphics - GH
songs - RB
difficulty - GH
DLC - RB
hardware - GH (mainly because GH's equipment works with RB2 software)
