So they polled 50 million DS owners?
I'd believe that many DS owners don't know exactly what a touch screen is, but they are aware of the screen they touch with their stylus, otherwise how do they play the games? Maybe they just think of it as something else like a pressure sensitive display or something, and not a touchscreen
Note that the study said "buyers", not owners. They probably asked a bunch of parents/spouses/friends rather than the intended recipient.
I know my family often had no clue what they were buying me -- as long as it wasn't too violent.
