Hey did anyone experience any signal position problems with their wireless router when you first conneted it to the Wii?. I just bought a new router today and the guy at the shop said that it would cover my house for signal and that to get the best signal i must place the router as high as possible. Anyway i connected up my router and then everything seems fine with the connection on the Wii and then it goes error and couldnt get connection blah blah blah but if i placed my router somewhere else then it all of a sudden started to connect fine!. The signal is just going on and off wherever i position it and i dont think if its a wireless router that it wouldnt even matter where i put it cus the Wii should just detect it anyway!. Has anyone ever experience this with their own router and if so what did you do?.

:D Here's what I posted on another topic...

I've been having problems recently.  Instead of making a new topic, I'll post them here.  Ok here they are...

1)  I have a wireless router and it's on 1 or 11.  It's called NETGEAR.  The wii was picking it up, but hasn't been able to for the past week.  The connection test keeps failing.  My mom won't let me mess with the router.  I've looked for help on different websites, but I still can't figure out the problem.  I really want it to connect to the internet again. I've tried moving the wii somewhere else, but that doesn't work.

2)  There is another access point that has full strengh.  The wii notices it everytime I search for access points.  It has a security code to it, but I know it.  The connection test fails everytime.  I don't know where this access point is.

I figured out one of my problems.  I had been using my neighbors wireless router instead of mine.  He moved last week, so that's why it's not working.

I still haven't figured out why the connection tests for my wireless router are failing.  It's on channel 1 or 11, and the signal is at full strength.  I can't figure out what is wrong. help.

Is it in the same room at the Wii?

You have to remember that signals don't go through certain things well like pipes and wires.

Change the router's channel to one or 11, that should also help. Are there any cordless phones around? You want to make sure that you're not getting interference there also.

If during the connection tests you are picking up your router's signal, then the problem is the security clearance of your Wii. Make sure that your router's password matches the one you input on your Wii and that the security type (WEP, etc.) is the same as the security set in your router's settings. If you don't know what any of that means, go to google and search for "How to set-up my Wii wi-fi connection".)

Hope that helps.
