"According to our sources, Nintendo has been quietly wooing developers and publishers with a handheld 3D demo of its popular franchise,Animal Crossing. Word has it that the game will be revealed next week as a launch title for Nintendo's handheld. When contacted with a request for comment, Nintendo's response was as expected: "Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation.""

If this happens, I'll be pretty happy. Animal Crossing 3DS would be great.

I'd prefer a 3dS side scrolling metroid game but animal crossing is good too.

Animal Crossing + Handhelds = YES. I really hope this happens. Wild World was my favorite AC game, and with 3D? Do want.

They really need to make this one different from other entries in the series to make me go back in.

Animal Crossing really is a great type of game for a handheld system and I really enjoyed Wild World. So hopefully it's true and there's plenty of cool new stuff added besides the 3D. :D

I hope this isn't the big launch game (like Super Mario 64DS was), I'd prefer something a little more action-packed.

... I'd still get it though.

probably won't be. Mario is gonna be at launch in some form, most likely, and that will probably be the "big launch title"

well, i've never owned an AC game, despite wanting one badly (i played the original for the gamecube), so this would be another chance to get it. i just hope they bother adding something new.

I have a feeling this Animal Crossing will be a good one. the game was made to be portable. Look how the console versions of the game scored lower than Wild World. All I want in this 3DS Animal Crossing is an enhanced version of Wild World, fixing all the glitches in it. Then adding a few extra features such as..

-Upgrading Ables

-City

-More Hobbies

-Less repetetive diolog

-more Customization

-Better wi-fi

If these things happen I'd be one very happy guy.

Animal crossing as a launch title would be pretty awesome. I'm sure the system would have it sooner or later, but AC is one of those games that can last you a very long time. If they come out with a solid RPG at launch also, then between those two games I'm sure the 3DS (along with the games) will sell very well early on. We'll have a better idea at E3 though, I'm really looking forward to it.

I don't like this rumor, for the simple fact that Animal Crossing games have failed to evolve into anything more complex than what they have been since their inception on the N64. If you're played Animal Crossing before, you're playing it again. And in my personal opinion...the games don't offer much control or depth in gameplay, it's just work for a little bit to pay off your first house, get used to the mechanics of the game, collect some furniture, then either keep talking to the animals and digging up fossils and fishing and catching butterflies everyday, or live your real life and let the town get overrun with weeds.

The Animal Crossing games could be so much more superior and better than what they are, but the creator of the games has already said himself that he doesn't plan on changing much. So I already have Wild World, I see absolutely no reason to get a 3DS one. But if the 3DS one blows it out of the water, then I'm just going to have to sell Wild World. Either way, you can't take one with the other- there is only room for one Animal Crossing game in a person's life.

So another user here reckons the game could be included on the 3DS, as like a 'home' interface for the system.

I am really liking this possibility, and I wonder if this could be the case. Just think about it, Nintendo could make event items to hand out certain days, so if you buy the system at launch, you might be rewarded with a 3DS for your avatar or something. I am imagining they could really take advantage of the Wi-Fi or whatever it uses, and frequently add updates to the game.

And if it's part of your 3DS, or a free app for your 3DS, I think people would be more inclined to use it and customise their characters and homes, and influence the crossing world. I think this could be a good idea if Nintendo executed it this way.

I think your just saying this because of how poorly they did City Folk. i think Nintendo realized their mistake by now, and this animal crossing will be the most different of all for the better or worse.

I like wifi the way it is...maybe add more options to like games or something, but I don't want them taking anything away from current wifi.

I like Animal Crossing but...If this is true then I hope that they make some improvements. And I'd like it to be more different then the Wii version also, WW seemed to similar imo.

Hey i just thought of something that they might use for the new game. You know how they say the 3DS will have motion sensing similar to the wii? Well for fishing i think theyre going to put a close up of the water for you, and you hold your stylus near the screen (not on it) and you yank it out realistically when a fish comes to nibble it. then the fish comes flying out of the screen with 3D TECHNOLOGY. what do u think?
