GBA games used save batteries that wear out after a period of time and then no longer save. Does the DS use the same technology? I heard that DS games use the same technology as memory cards so they last almost forever. Which is it?

I can not directly answer your question. But yea the DS games are just basically memory cards, and usually they do not delete themselves. Also I have a GBA game that is probably eight years old, and it still saves just fine. As well as Super Nintendo Games, they generally last forever, well for me anyways. I think nothing could really happen to the DS games to cause them to not be able tos ave. There are even some games that do not earase if you swipe it with a magnet.XxShadowTongyxX
Those things are practically invincible. I BIT my custom robo arena ds game (hadron is one of the biggest examples of why the game sucked) and left a hole in the plastic, and the game glitched LESS.

Why would you bite a DS game?
gba cartridges used battery saves. but they're really high quality stuff. they wont' wear out till for at least a decade or two.
and yeah, ds carts are like memory cards, i highly doubt they'll ever erase themselves.
I never thought of it that way. I alway's thought the memory could stay there no matter if there was a battery or not.GamerBoy53once the battery dies, the game wont be able to save anymore. it was a problem some gb/gbc games had. notably pokemon gold and silver. but nintendo must've improved the quality of them or something cos i can't recall any save problems for any gba games.

Some NES cartriges used save batteries like Zelda. I heard that there are some NES Zelda catriges that are over 20 years old and still save. Nintendo was surprised because NES save batteries at the time have a maximum of 10 years before kicking the bucket.
I remeber buying a pack of 2 PS2 memory cards. In the instructions it said that the emeory cards have a certain number of saves before you have to buy a new one. I assume the maximum number of saves you can do before it wears out is like 5 million. PS1 memory cards still save.
On GB games, the life of the save battery is also affected by how many times and how often you save. Save like 10 million times and it will die out. I never save often so....
