Activision has revealed its innovative approach to reproducing Guitar Hero on a portable platform, unveiling a plug-in peripheral for the upcoming Nintendo DS game, Guitar Hero: On Tour.

The device, pictured, consists of four fret buttons that plug into the Game Boy Advance slot on the handheld console.

Like in the previous installments of the series, players have to match the icons on screen with the corresponding fret buttons, whilst simultaneously strumming the strings on the touch screen with a specially designed 'pick' stylus.

Vicarious Visions is handling the development of the game, which previously worked on the Tony Hawk and Spider-man series on the DS, and also handled the Wii version of Guitar Hero III last year.

Look for Guitar Hero on DS is this summer.

I might get it, but if it's more than $50 I'm not gonna get it. Well look at it this way.

(DS) Guitar Hero: On Tour - N/A
(Wii) Guitar Hero: Aerosmith - $50 approx.
(Wii) Rock Band - $170 approx.

These are the rhythm games coming out on Nintendo consoles in June to August (summer) so which one will you put your money towards? If I had a choice between GH On Tour or GH Aerosmith and they were both $50, I'm getting a portable version of GH.

I actually feel kinda dissapointed with the graphics, but most likely because I play GH on the Wii so much. But they look good.

I'm hoping 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica is on the game, but I'm not sure.SHACKR

Yeah that'd be nice, but I'd be fine with just about any Metallica songs on it.

As for me, I've never played guitar hero before, and I sort of want see if it lives up to the hype. So I may pick this up when it releases.

Don't judge the whole franchise though on this one game. Like I'm not saying this game is going to be bad, but other games in the series have alot more content than this game.
