The game does have A LOT of hype, but competing with Mario, Link, AND Kindom Hearts. I just don't see this game selling as well as the developers are hoping.lomo4Not everyone one likes RPGs... Not everyone likes Mario, Zelda, and KH...
It's only a $30 game. I don't see it setting you back that much. Might as well get in addition to some other game you were planning on getting. I don't see a Mario game getting in the way either, not unless it's one from the main platformer series, certaintly not an RPG.
I believe that this game will be able to hold up against the newest popular nintendo titles. After all, it is recieving a lot of the hype that those games aren't getting. I think they'll all have an even chance.

who dosen't like zelda? anyway i'm torn between getting m+l 3 or scriblenauts or both them on release day
Scribblenauts is going to suffer because it's Scribblenauts
Games like that just don't sell well
I've already made the argument before
The game is closest to Drawn to Life. It wasn't until it became Drawn to Life Spongebob Edition that it started to sell at a much better rate.

Well I guess there will be a another Spongebob addition for this game.
Nice to see you're still as pessimistic and critical as always. I've got the game pre-ordered, and I really hope it sells well. It's got a good chance; it has a lot of hype, and not just from DS player and Nintendo enthusiasts; it picked up a lot of attention since E3, and it should pay off. Will it sell well? I hope so, but I'm not flat-out saying it won't, like some people.Scribblenauts is going to suffer because it's Scribblenauts

i have to disagree. drawn to life certianly didnt get game of the show at E3 across the board. it didnt have nearly this hype going into its release.
What in the world are you talking about? Drawn to Life wasn't exactly a blockbuster hit but it was in the top 10 DS best sellers for a few months and while its life times sales don't compete with bigger titles, it still sold a respectable amount.Scribblenauts is going to suffer because it's Scribblenauts

I'm gonna have to agree. I think Scribblenauts will be great and I can't wait to get my copy, but I also think it'll lack the substance beyond its creativity. Bowser's Inside Story is just one hell of a game that joins in with many other great Mario RPG's. It'll sell in good #'s for years.
it will do just fine sale wisesman3579It's not that I think the game won't sell well. It's just if the developers would have thought this through more carefully they could of had a best seller on their hands if it was released earlier this year. Now they have to convince consumers to believe that a third party company that hasn't quite established its self as a relialbe company yet, can create a better game than the allready established power house called Nintendo. Not to mention that these are two of Nintendo's most beloved top selling franchises.
It really doesnt' matter when a game launches on the DS. The first party titles tend to always outsell them no matter what.
And Warner Bros is backing it right? I'm sure they've got the money to fund commercials, and such for it. I just really hope it isn't only targeted towards kids. I want to see those commercials on late night tv, and such, and promotions.

So long as Mario is in the title, any game will sell. Even Mario: Crap Edition, or Mario: Don't Buy This Game, It's Broken.

Mario and Luigi 1: 2.1 million
Mario and Luigi 2: 1.5 million
Mario RPG: 2.1 million
Paper Mario: 1.3 million
Paper Mario 2: 2 million
Yes, Mario RPG's have a solid base
Honestly, release date isn't a factor for me at all when buying games.
Whatever the case, I'm definitely preordering this game for the rooster hat
The retail reception is so bad for this game that many retailers have covered it with launch promotions hoping it gains support
The largest is Toys R Us giving away a 15 dollar gift card with purchase
This game just isn't meant to be a spotlight game, it's more in the "Drawn to Life" category
It's nothing about the game itself being bad, it's just not a very strong title that appeals to everyone
Meh, Toys R Us always has sales like that. Mario Galaxy was 25 dollars the first week of release, Mario & Luigi is $25 (10 dollars off) the first week of launch there too.The retail reception is so bad for this game that many retailers have covered it with launch promotions hoping it gains support

Considering GameStop ran out of rooster hats because so many people preordered this game...
I doubt it will suffer. :P
This game looks awesome, I am really looking forward to it! But I think the publishers are releasing it at the worst time of the year. The whole first half of 2009 we haven't had any chart busting titles hit the Nintendo DS or for that matter any must buy first party titles. But Scribblenauts is releasing on September 15th, the day after Nintendo releases a new title from their storied franchise Mario. Scribblenauts is going to have to be competing for sales it's first three months with Mario in Mario and Luigis : Boswers Inside Story, and then after that with Link aswell as the Legend of Zelda : Spirit Tracks is released this December. I just can't see Nintendo DS owners choosing to buy this game over a new Mario game or even a new Zelda game. Does anyone else agree with me? Or do you think that this game can hold up on it's on against other Nintendo power houses like Mario and Zelda?lomo4Dont worry, the DS market is inmense and can support several hits at once.Heck, even GTA managed to hit 700 k in a short time, being mature and all, having Pokemon Platinum as oponent.Theres room with so many DSs out there.

WHAT!!! I better check in quite to see if I can get my hands on one as soon as possible. I NEED MY ROOSTER HAT!!!!! :cry:It's also competing with Mini Ninja's & Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. While Mini Ninja's is a new franchise and not *that* widely anticipated, the Professor Layton fans have been rabid waiting for the second game to come stateside -- trust me, I'd know.
And just read through the archives on DSFanboy, the complaints and the begging for that game to come stateside are insane. Scribblenauts is going to do well, but I just don't think it can compete with the new Mario & Luigi game and Professor Layton.
